According to Kripke, the plan is to start shooting The Boys Season 3 this coming January, with the first four scripts having already been written. He also confirms that all of the scripts will be finished before shooting begins, and that the plan is to film Season 3 using “block shooting”, meaning that they would shoot episodes one and two at the same time and the future episodes would be filmed in the same two episode blocks. The idea behind this is to allow for any scenes on shared locations across the two episodes to be shot at the same time. Kripke also plans to schedule fifteen days per episode for season 3, unlike season 2 which only allowed twelve.

Kripke also addressed once again his desire to have The Walking Dead star Jeffrey Dean Morgan join the world of The Boys. The showrunner says that he and the actor have been discussing it, and while nothing has happened in any official capacity, they both desperately want it to happen.
Of course, this is not the first time that Kripke has lobbied for Morgan to have a role in the show saying previously, “There’s one role we’re already talking about. He has to, uh, we have to like coordinate. Because you know, he’s on The Walking Dead, so he has another home. But we already talked about one role, and there might be a potential other that we’re talking about. But we are, just this past week we were literally texting back and forth about trying to figure out how to get him on the show. I don’t think it’s a done deal yet, but the will is there, and we’re both talking about it.”
Before that though, we still have the second season of The Boys to look forward to, which plans to add a lot of new blood of its own including the recent announcement that Supernatural star Jensen Ackles will be joining the roster as Solider Boy. Alongside him will be X-Men star Shawn Ashmore as former member of The Seven, Lamplighter, no-nonsense superhero Stormfront played by You’re the Worst star Aya Cash, and The Seven’s new minder, Stan Edgar, played by The Mandalorian’s Giancarlo Esposito.
Thanks to the chaos of the first season, The Boys are now fugitives and Billy is nowhere to be found. “It’s a bit of a mystery,” says Urban, on Billy’s whereabouts. “The Boys are on the back foot and spend a lot of their time trying to make an impact and get traction for taking down the Supes. Just because they’re wanted and in hiding doesn’t mean they’re gonna stop doing what they do. So, the objective is still fundamentally the same.”
The second season will premiere on Prime Video with the first three episodes on Friday, September 4, and new episodes available each Friday following, culminating in an epic season finale on October 9. This comes to us courtesy of Collider.
