A new photo has been released of The Boys’ upcoming third season. In the image, which you can see above, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara), Frenchie (Tomer Capon), and Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) can be seen suited up in jumpsuits. They appear to be gearing up for some kind of plan, and though it remains to be seen what exactly they’re up to, chances are it’s something Homelander (Antony Starr) and the other Supes won’t like.
Set to return in early June, there has been a lot of excitement from fans for season 3 of The Boys. The series only grew more popular after premiering its second season in 2020, and the fan anticipation only grows as word of mouth leads more and more fans to the series. One particular source of interest involves the inclusion of Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) as Soldier Boy, a Captain America-like character who was the world’s most famous superhero in the years before Homelander was around.

The season 3 trailer also teased some of the insanity that’s yet to come, and that seems to include Supe-hater Billy Butcher experimenting with Compound V. This may just be the tip of the iceberg, as showrunner Eric Kripke has consistently teased that the “craziest thing” anyone has seen on a television show will be happening in The Boys season 3. Perhaps we’ll know that moment when it happens, as it’s not clear at this time what Kripke is referring to, but we are nevertheless intrigued. As Kripke said last year:
“Without giving away any spoilers, I was just in editing yesterday, and we’re doing something here in the season 3 premiere that is not only I think the craziest thing we’ve ever done, it’s got to be up there with the craziest thing anyone’s ever done. Maybe it won’t work. Who knows? But I’m just so high on this gag that we’re pulling off. And it’s certainly something nobody has ever seen before, probably for good reason. So all that’s really exciting.”

Antony Starr has also teased a very enjoyable third season, and that’s saying a lot considering all we’ve seen his Homelander do in seasons 1 and 2. He previously told TVLine:
The Boys is based on the original comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. It’s set in a satirical world that parodies superhero fiction, imagining what it would be like if corrupt superheroes existed in real life. The show stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Karen Fukuhara, Tomer Capon, and Chace Crawford.
“Oh, my God [season 3] is hands down one of the most enjoyable seasons of TV I’ve had the good fortune of being involved with! I had a great time on season 2, and I thought we did something really cool there where we took it next-level in many ways from season 1, and really, it’s just the extension of that. I’m always curious to see what the writers, what these crazy people, are going to cook up, and it’s a pretty great feeling in season 3 to still be surprised and excited every time you turn a page in the material. All I can say is I truly believe the fans are going to freak out at season 3.”
The Boys will premiere its third season on June 3, 2022, on Prime Video. You can watch the first two seasons streaming now.
