MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

While the Tomatometer score will likely change as more new episodes from season 2 are released, it’s worth noting that the second season is performing even better than the show’s freshman season. The Boys season 1 is sitting with a Certified Fresh score at 84 percent, though it’s certainly worth noting the audience score ranks it a bit higher at 93%. As for season 2, the audience score currently ranks the series at 91%, further proving that most everyone watching the new episodes is really enjoying them so far.

The Boys was developed for the small screen by Eric Kripke using inspiration from the original comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. It tells the story of a Justice League-inspired crew of superheroes known as the Seven, which includes Homelander (Antony Starr), Starlight (Erin Moriarty), Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), The Deep (Chace Crawford), Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), and Stormfront (Aya Cash). Hoping to keep the corrupt superheroes in check is a group of vigilantes led by Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), with the team also including Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon), and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara).

Giancarlo Esposito first appeared in season 1 of The Boys last year as Stan Edgar, the CEO of Vought International - the company that employs the Seven. Although his role was limited in the first season, Esposito has been featured much more prominently in the second season’s first three episodes. Whether or not the character will survive past season 2 remains to be seen, but it certainly doesn’t help his odds that he’s already managed to get on Homelander’s bad side. We’ve seen what happens to most people that cross the flag-wielding antagonist that calls himself a superhero.
