The addition of Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian’s Giancarlo Esposito to The Boys has fans excited to see what kind of shady dealings the actor will bring to proceedings as Stan Edgar. Antony Starr, who plays Homelander , sadistic leader of The Seven, has offered some insight into what to expect, teasing a turbulent relationship between the pair.
Elisabeth Shue’s Madelyn Stillwell provided the unhinged Homelander with an anchor, but with her now out of the picture, it is hard to imagine what the vicious superhero will get up to. Whilst no one wants to go up against Homelander, if anyone can do it successfully it is the master of the small screen villain Giancarlo Esposito, whose CEO Stan Edgar will be providing all new obstacles for the superhero to face.
“We come into season two, and Homelander is unwell. He’s missing Stillwell, but he’s become the master of his own universe. The person running interference, or maybe just the interference, that is Stillwell has been removed, so he now has a direct line with Edgar. Homelander thinks he’s the most important player in the game, so to speak, but Edgar very much comes from a different angle. He represents a big corporation and he really puts Homelander into a very interesting position for a superhero that is used to getting his own way and being so strong and in control. Edgar really throws the cat amongst the pigeons there and it sets old Homey off on a bizarre trajectory.”

Giancarlo Esposito made his first appearance as Edgar in The Boys’ first season finale, and it has been confirmed by showrunner Eric Kripke that Edgar will have an expanded presence in the second season.
The first few minutes of the season 2 premiere episode was released recently, introducing Esposito’s Stan Edgar and the kind of confrontation he will be bringing to the table. Though the series has strayed somewhat from the comics, Kripke has previously referred to the second season as “crazier, stranger, more intense, more emotional. In fact, it’s too much, so the Surgeon General has insisted we air the first three episodes on September 4, then air the remaining five episodes weekly after that. We wanted to give you time to freak out, digest, discuss, come down from the high before we give you another dose.”
