Shooting on The Boys latest season saw several Covid delays, and that has meant it has taken a little longer than expected for the new season to arrive. However, fans have had the animated spin-off series The Boys Presents Diabolical to be getting along with in the meanwhile, and now the wait is almost over for what is promising to be the most over-the-top season yet.
The Boys Season 3 Introduces Payback to the Story

While many characters have already come and gone in the first seasons of The Boys, the new episodes will bring a whole new wave of crazy characters who will no doubt spell trouble for some of the returning characters. A new poster highlighting the new superhero groups, led by Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy, was recently shared online, and showrunner Eric Kripke previously explained how the whole Payback team is going to be important to the series. He said:
Of course, that poster reveal now makes a little more sense following the new trailer’s arrival, and the new group is going to be a threat to The Seven, and people should prepare themselves for a big face-off between Soldier Boy and Homelander. As we have seen in the past, this kind of clash of egos doesn’t usually end well.
“I mean all of them [are important]! I mean I think they all get amazing things to do. I mean season 3’s fun because it’s not just about Soldier Boy, but it’s about the team he was a part of which is called Payback. And Laurie Holden plays Crimson Countess and there’s a bunch of other heroes who are amazing. So, sort of seeing who was the Seven before the Seven. And what was life like for Vought? In the history of Vought what was it like in the 60s and 70s and 80s? To dig into the history of the world, not just the present has been a lot of fun.”
