Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s inclusion in Prime Video’s The Boys is a long time coming. Earlier this year showrunner Eric Kripke said he was working hard to get the actor in the upcoming fourth season of the superhero television series. Finally, Morgan is confirmed to be joining the cast, and the rest of The Boys team couldn’t be happier, welcoming their newest co-worker with middle fingers galore.
Production began on Season 4 earlier this month, and Eric Kripke has just released the first behind-the-scenes pic via Twitter while the cast works on the latest season. We get our first look at Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, and Karen Fukuhara as they welcome Morgan to The Boys. The caption reads, “Welcome to the fam, @JDMorgan. We’re all SO PSYCHED to have you!! (This pic is from #Season4, now shooting).”

The official The Boys Twitter account didn’t take long to get in on the action. However, they wouldn’t confirm Morgan’s character, or whether he has super powered abilities. “Chuffed to welcome @JDMorgan to The Boys S4. Can’t confirm if he’s gettin’ any tights, though.” Karl Urban was also happy to see Morgan, saying he’s mind blown and can’t wait to film together.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan has a lot lined up, with his upcoming The Walking Dead spinoff, Isle of the Dead, filming and set for a release sometime in 2023. Morgan is thankful for AMC and the team behind The Boys for allowing his schedule to coincide with filming, saying, “Can’t tell you how excited I am! Big thanks to [Eric Kripke] and @AMCPlus and @TheBoysTV for finding a way with both schedules. No easy task. SO DAMN STOKED!!”
Fans who have seen The Walking Dead should know how easily a foul-mouthed Jeffrey Dean Morgan character could fit into The Boys universe. For now, fans will have to wait and see who the actor will play, but he’s sure to be a fan favorite in Season 4.
It’s a Supernatural Reunion on Prime Video
Jeffrey Dean Morgan played John Winchester in Supernatural, the father of Dean Winchester who was played by Jensen Ackles. Ackles made his first appearance in The Boys during Season 3, playing America’s first hero, Solider Boy. Eric Kripke is also the creator of Supernatural, adding for an already established relationship between the trio. With Prime Video adding another Supernatural actor in Morgan, the show is only missing Jared Padalecki who played another Winchester son. During an interview with E! News, Kripke mentioned his desire to get all three Winchester’s in The Boys, if Padalecki was willing to join.
Maybe Jared Padalecki joins The Boys for Season 5? Nevertheless, fans are ecstatic to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan join The Boys cast, and none may be more excited than Morgan himself.
“I would put Jared on the show in a heartbeat. I mean, he’s really busy with his empire over there in Austin, but if it was willing to play, I would put him on the show in a second.”
