Antony Starr has proven he can handle the superhero role incredibly well, even if his Homelander character isn’t your typical hero. In Prime Video’s The Boys, Starr gives audiences a look at what would happen when someone is given the powers of Superman, with none of the integrity. Throughout three seasons of the series, Starr has perfected his craft, delivering terrifying, intense scenes week after week.
Now, Marvel Cinematic Universe fans are calling for the actor to join the established franchise as a beloved character, Wolverine. Throughout 14 years in the MCU canon, The X-Men have yet to make an appearance due to a previous deal between Marvel and Fox. However, following Disney’s acquisition of Fox in 2019, the iconic characters are now available to join the MCU. Until now, Kevin Feige hasn’t used characters from the purchase within films or television shows on Disney+; however, following the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, all of that is set to change.

The X-Men should be appearing soon, with one related project already confirmed, Deadpool 3. Given the imminent return of our favorite mutants, fans have taken to social media requesting Starr to play Logan, otherwise known as Wolverine. In response to the fan art which made its way across Instagram, Starr said, “Ooofff,- my bones ache just thinking of the stunk work!” The image can be found below.

It sounds like no official talks have begun between Starr and Disney, and even if they did, it’s unlikely that he would confirm anything at this point. If Feige and the MCU plan to introduce the X-Men anytime soon, casting should be underway shortly, and more details may arise.

Starr Isn’t the Only Actor From the Boys Suited for Wolverine
Karl Urban plays Billy Butcher in The Boys, the enemy of Starr’s Homelander character. Now, fans are creating a rivalry between the two as they want to see Urban cast as Wolverine as well. Although he certainly fits the look right now, Urban shared his thoughts regarding the idea with The Guardian.
Another challenge the actor would face is he’s already appeared in the MCU. Urban plays Skurge in the Thor movies; however, recasting to another role will be far from the craziest thing to happen within Marvel. Also, Disney will undoubtedly want someone they can get a few films out of, whether it be group X-Men films, solo Wolverine movies, or both. So, in addition to finding someone of the right age, they have a monumental task on their hands replacing Hugh Jackman. The actor played Logan/Wolverine for 17 years, becoming the actor’s most prominent role. Replacing the character is similar to recasting Robert Downey Jr’s Ironman, a difficult task, but not impossible.
“Oh really? It’s flattering, but you have to rationally think about it. I’m what, two years younger than Hugh Jackman? I mean, if I was the studio looking to cast someone as Wolverine, I’d pick someone I’ll get three films out of. You’re not going to get three films out of Karl Urban unless you want a 65-year-old Wolverine.”
We will have to wait and see who Disney decides to go with regarding the Mutants and Wolverine specifically. However, judging by Starr’s response, he isn’t closing the door on the possibility.
