Most shows do not last for more than a few seasons because of networks canceling the series or significant casting changes. Sometimes even the popular series don’t make it and find themselves on the chopping block. This is not the case for one of daytimes TV’s most popular programs. The Bold and the Beautiful turns 35, and they seem to be here to stay for some time.

The official anniversary takes place Wednesday, March 23rd, and they have received the best gift that any show could receive — the drama has been renewed for two more years through its 37th season.

Happy 35th Anniversary to the Bold and the Beautiful

The daytime drama has been a hit since it premiered in 1987 on CBS. It has since won 100 Daytime Emmys (with 306 nominations) and is the most-watched U.S.-produced daytime drama in the world. The show has an audience of an estimated 26.2 million viewers. On September 7th, 2011, the series finally made the switch to high-definition television, the second-to-last American soap to make the upgrade at the time. The popular soap opera was created by the late William J. Bell and his wife, Lee Phillip Bell, and their son Bradley has served as writer and executive producer since 1992. It still features two original cast members, Katherine Kelly Lang and John McCook. This show was collecting the gold from award shows and drawing viewers in long before streaming services arrived on the scene and even after.

On Thursday, March 24th, a special episode dedicated to Brooke Logan will air. Many fan favorites and former cast members like Jack Wagner, who played Nick Marone from 2003 to 2012, and Winsor Harmon, who took on the role of Thorne Forrester from 1996 to 2016, will return. Over its 35 years on the screen, there have been 8,734 episodes, 393,750 pages of dialogue memorized by the cast, 100 weddings (including ones canceled and interrupted), and 23 babies born on TV. The Bold and the Beautiful is genuinely part of American television history.

You can watch The Bold and the Beautiful, weekdays at 1:30/12:30c on CBS and the very special episode on March 24th, 2022.
