Now that Halloween and Thanksgiving are officially over, it’s time to focus on one of the biggest holidays of the year, Christmas! You’ll find Christmas music on radio stations, cheesy Christmas movies on almost every single channel, and decorations in every grocery store you walk into. Now that we’re getting closer to the holiday and the spirit of Christmas is making its appearance, it’s always nice to watch something that reminds you of the big day. Christmas movies are great, especially the classics, but sometimes you need to switch it up a bit and watch something shorter and less traditional. Here’s a list of the best TV Christmas episodes of all time, ranked.

7 It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

     20th Television

Titled “A Very Sunny Christmas”, a holiday spent with this gang might be exactly what you would expect. Dennis and Dee decide that they’re sick of the way Frank acts around the holidays and decide to give him a taste of his own medicine by calling up an old friend, and that goes very poorly. Meanwhile, Mac and Charlie discover some unsavory secrets about their childhoods and Christmas, and it ends in a bloody mess between Charlie and a mall Santa. The episode runs twice as long as a normal episode, and is full of memorable moments with the gang.

6 Grey’s Anatomy

     Buena Vista Television

This season two episode is titled, “Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer”, and the doctors of Seattle Grace are struggling to embrace the Christmas spirit. All except Izzie, who loves the holiday and makes her roommates actively participate in the cheer as well. Poor George is stuck with his obnoxious family, who comes to infiltrate his life during the holiday season, and there’s plenty of drama between Christina and Burke, as they discuss if Christmas is truly important or not. The best part of the episode is when Meredith, George, and Izzie all lay under the tree together, side by side, as they gaze up at the lights.

5 The Office

         NBCUniversal Television Distribution

It’s hard to choose just one Christmas episode from the series, but “Christmas Party” from season two takes the spot on this list. For their party, Michael originally organized a Secret Santa gift exchange, purchasing a new iPod for Ryan, which went way over the set limit on spending. However, when Michael receives a homemade oven glove from Phyllis, he decides to turn it into a white elephant exchange instead, and it leads to utter chaos. This episode is also special as viewers get to watch Pam and Jim’s relationship start to blossom, as he gifts her a thoughtful teapot filled with inside jokes and knickknacks. The episode ends with a drunk Meredith exposing herself to Michael, who in return, snaps a picture of her on his camera and calls it the best party ever.

4 Seinfeld

         Columbia Pictures Television

The episode’s title is “The Strike”, but fans of Seinfeld refer to it as “Festivus”, and it is regarded as one of the best episodes from the entire series, via ScreenRant. A lot happens in this single episode, such as Jerry dating a woman, who’s beautiful at times, and also ugly at other times. Frank Costanza invents his own holiday, Festivus, in order to get out of the gift-giving that Christmas brings, and George decides to join in by creating a fake charity for his job to donate to during the holiday.

3 All in the Family

     Sony Pictures Television

It’s a good old holiday special with the Bunkers, but Archie is in a bad mood as he discovers that he won’t be getting his usual Christmas bonus. “Christmas Day at the Bunkers” is lighthearted and fun, even though Archie can’t shake the loss of the money his job was supposed to send him, keeping the information mostly to himself throughout the day. The Jeffersons make a visit, which also includes a visit from Santa, a.k.a Henry, with a black beard. The episode ends with an important message about Christmas and family.

2 Parks and Recreation

Similarly to The Office, Parks and Recreation has a few Christmas episodes that all shine in their own way, but one remains the best. “Citizen Knope” highlights just how great a boss Leslie is, as well as a friend to her colleagues and family, especially after she’s put on a suspension for two weeks by Chris Traeger. When she tries to work on her campaign, her advisors insist that she relax in these two weeks and not do any work, which is hard for Leslie, since she’s so driven. The Parks department comes together and gifts Leslie the perfect thing for Christmas, a gingerbread replica of the department. It’s a great episode full of laughs and the meaning of Christmas wrapped into one.

1 Cheers

         CBS Television Distribution

What’s better than working late on Christmas Eve? The answer is: a lot. However, for the workers at Cheers, working on a holiday isn’t the worst thing that could possibly happen, even though it might seem a little depressing, states Fandom. Rebecca has everyone stay late and work at the bar and throughout the night they exchange gifts with each other, Sam panicking as he realizes he doesn’t have a gift for Rebecca. Norm shows up in a Santa suit and the episode is very warm, nostalgic, and comforting for the holiday season.
