Ever since the smash hit debut of 2008’s Iron Man from Marvel Studios, the superhero genre has absolutely overtaken cinemas worldwide. Marvel Studios is currently the head of the pack, with DC and Warner Bros in a close second, along with a variety of other comic book companies creating films based on some of their most popular characters (i.e, Valiant and the Bloodshot movie). The television arena has now been hit with an influx of superhero shows as well, with franchises such as Invincible and The Boys getting some of the best ratings and reviews for superhero shows.
With the ever-saturated amount of superhero media audiences are getting, Studios have been coming up with tricks and spectacles to keep audiences interested and entertained in their movies and shows. From exciting team-ups like The Avengers (2012), to CGI visual feasts in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, companies have done their best to get adrenaline rushing. One of the latest trends to keep audiences involved is the reveal of new superhero suits. From ragged, inaccurate creations, to clean and slick comic adaptations, here are the best superhero suit reveals in movies and television.

5 Sam Wilson’s Captain America Suit
Marvel Studios
One of the more popular Disney+ Marvel shows was The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, following the exploits of Sam Wilson (Falcon) and Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier) as they try to stop a terrorist group from blowing up an important United Nations meeting; along with the two bickering over Captain America’s legacy, now that Steve Rogers is gone. After five episodes of political thrillers, explorations of racism in America, and the legacy of heroes; Sam and Bucky fly to New York as fast as they can to stop Karli Morganthau and her group from enacting their evil plans. Just as they’re about to, Sam Wilson flies in through the window in his brand-new suit. Mixing the Captain America look with his old Falcon wings, Sam Wilson (the all-new Captain America) brought a fresh, exciting look to the mantle, and his debut was one of the best suit reveals yet.

4 The Incredibles’ Family Suits
Disney Pictures
One of the earliest animated superhero films, and one of the most popular superhero films of all-time, is Pixar’s The Incredibles. Following the story of two super-powered parents, who, after superheroes were banned, had to return to normal life, began a family together (with children who inherited powers). But as expected, they were dragged back into the business after a villain from Mr. Incredible’s past comes back into the fold with a super weapon that can kill heroes. A unique take on the genre, The Incredibles had one of the most fun super suit reveals in cinema (matching family suits) created by known costume designer, Edna Mode. With a simple design, popping colors, and a bonding of family, the suits from The Incredibles have stood the test of time almost twenty years later.
3 Wonder Woman’s Battlefield Debut
Warner Bros.
One of the biggest films of 2017, and the first female-led superhero movie in quite some time, Wonder Woman was a fascinating and fresh take on the character since her television shows from years past. Starring Gal Gadot in the titular role, the film took a different approach than other origins, with the story itself being set during the height of World War One in 1917. After Steve Trevor arrives at Themyscira, Diana decides to leave with him to man’s world in order to stop Ares (the God of War). During her journey, her and her traveling companions get sucked into a battle between the trenches. In arguably the coolest sequence in any superhero film, Diana walks across “no man’s land” in the sleek and shiny crimson and blue armor, blocking bullets and enemy artillery to get across. The cinematography was ideal during these scenes, and showed her suit off in the best possible way.
2 Daredevil Gets the Red Suit
Netflix/ Disney Studios
The best series of the highly-esteemed Netflix Marvel television shows, Daredevil ran for three seasons (with a fourth now on the way from Disney and Marvel Studios), and was immensely popular among audiences. For most of season one, Matt Murdock (Daredevil) wore a makeshift, though comic-accurate, black suit made of a t-shirt and pants, along with a black fabric mask. In the season finale, as Daredevil goes after Wilson Fisk, who has escaped from containment; he debuts the classic red armored suit, and mask with horns, made for him by Melvin Potter (who is the Gladiator in Marvel Comics). With the nightly shadows and streetlights’ illuminating his look, Daredevil looked as menacing as ever while taking on the Kingpin.
1 Bloodshot (2020)
Sony Pictures
Though considered a mixed bag of a movie (5.7/10 on IMDB and 30% on Rotten Tomatoes), Bloodshot was a visual spectacle of a film, and no scene shows the skills better than when Ray Garrison’s (Vin Diesel) Bloodshot look is finally completed at the end of the film. As he chases down Dr. Harting, Bloodshot steps out of the smoke, red nanobots pulling him back together at full shine, with the pale skin of death marking his dedication. The full reveal of the look is one of the bright spots among an otherwise average film.
