With so many streaming platforms available to us today, it can be harder than ever to choose what to watch. There is nothing worse than deciding on a movie only to find that it was pulled from the streaming platform. As excited as we always are to find new titles added to Netflix or Hulu, it’s always upsetting to see our old favorites leave. With all the new titles Hulu is adding in July, its no surprise that they are making room by clearing out some of their older titles. If you have the streaming service and are worried about missing out on some great films, here are nine great movies leaving Hulu.

8 A Beautiful Mind

     Universal Pictures

Ron Howard made his name as a director with classics like Apollo 13 and A Beautiful Mind. This film, based on the real life of mathematician John Nash, shows the mathematician’s struggle with schizophrenia. A Beautiful Mind allows the audience to have just a taste of the emotional turmoil that can come with mental illness. Some complain about the historical inaccuracy of the film, but we still love the thought-provoking questions it poses. While the story can be heavy, in the end it proves inspirational by the end.

7 The Big Year

     20th Century Fox

With a star cast of Owen Wilson, Jack Black, and Steve Martin, there is no question what kind of movie this is. Three of the greatest comedic actors of our day team up in this fun comedy about bird watching. The Big Year follows three different bird watchers as they compete to see the most birds in a single year. While the premise may be foreign to most, the characters are incredibly relatable and lovable. By the end, the fun look at birds and the way men can bond in nature will have its viewers wanting to go bird watching.

6 The Breakfast Club

John Hughes famously created 80s cinema classics like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Sixteen Candles, but perhaps his most famous film is The Breakfast Club. When five different students find themselves stuck in detention together they pass the time together and become intimately close friends. The Breakfast Club’s simple plot and iconic characters give the film a timeless quality. Fans of the film love it for the social commentary and introspective look on societal norms.

5 The Devil Wears Prada

The Devil Wears Prada is a classic for its iconic characters outstanding production design. Anne Hathaway stars opposite Meryl Streep as a fresh journalist looking to make her mark on the world. When she gets a job working as an assistant at one of the most prestigious fashion magazines in the world, it will take everything she has to make it out alive. The inside look at the fashion industry highlights both the glamour and the horror of the fashion industry. If viewers somehow are not sucked in by outstanding performances or exaggerated plot, they will at least be able to enjoy the feature length fashion show.

4 Happy Feet and Happy Feet Two

     Village Roadshow Pictures

Few things can compete with the adorable tap dancing penguin at the center of these films. This children’s cartoon teaches the value of honesty and standing out. Mumble the penguin can’t sing a single note, and therefore cannot connect with the other penguins. However, he is an outstanding tap dancer and learns to embrace his gifts. Happy Feet’s simple plot may not retain adult audiences, but it does make for a relaxing family movie night.

3 Hitch

     Sony Pictures Releasing

Hulu is losing several romantic comedies this month, including, Easy A, Fever Pitch, and The Vow. While we are sad to see all of these go, we are especially sad to part with Will Smith’s classic, Hitch. In this film, Alex Hitchens consults with men and helps them pluck up the courage to get the girls of their dreams. When his newest and most awkward client yet turns out to have a crush on a celebrity, Hitch must rise to meet the challenge. This film is loved for the charismatic personalities of Will Smith and Kevin James. The two manage to create a film of iconic comedic moments still referenced in other rom-coms all these years later.

2 The Fifth Element

     Gaumont Buena Vista International Releasing

The Fifth Element remains a staple in any sci-fi movie library. Bruce Willis stars as his usual funny and athletic character type. Korban Dallas finds himself thrown into this adventure after Leeloo, an alien on the run from the government, falls into his cab. She is on a mission to save the world from destruction, and Dallas must save her. The action packed roller coaster ride filled with 90s special effects is still fun to watch today because of the classic story and Willis’ sense of humor.

1 Water for Elephants

     20th Century Studios

Based on the beloved novel of the same name, Water For Elephants follows the story of a traveling circus. Not sure where else to go, Jacob (Robert Pattinson) becomes an animal caretaker for the circus and falls in love with the beautiful elephant rider, Marlena (Reese Witherspoon). As the two fall in love, they face opposition from Marlena’s cruel husband and the toxic environment in which they live. Many complain that Pattinson and Witherspoon’s chemistry isn’t strong enough to hold up the emotional backbone of the film. However, we still love Water For Elephants because of its breathtaking cinematography and look inside the magical world of a circus.
