Among the best and most successful cinematic universes of all time is the Warner Bros. MonsterVerse, the term used to identify the Godzilla and King Kong shared universe. The Monsterverse has delivered epic monster movies, including Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island. With only four movies in the universe, however, we have still nonetheless been treated to many amazing monsters known as Titans. Godzilla, Kong, Rodan and King Ghidorah make up only a handful of Kaiju-like creatures. Here are the best monsters in WB’s epic Monsterverse, ranked.

7 MUTO
Warner Bros. Pictures
Sure, this one may be cheating as it’s not just one Titan, but essentially a term that means Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism. However, we will just be discussing two of them. First appearing in Godzilla (2014), the MUTOs make a terrifying and destructive introduction, as they topple cities and eat Nuclear weapons (giving them power); it seems these creatures were simply unstoppable. Not to mention, there were two of them, a male and a female, with the female being much larger and far deadlier. The male may not be as strong, but instead, comes with a set of wings, allowing him to fly as well as being able to release an EMP blast that disables all electronic devices in a five-mile radius.

Godzilla had a fairly tough time trying to beat these two creatures, with the two tag-teaming against him for a better advantage. Godzilla won in the end, but the MUTOs certainly didn’t make it easy.
6 Rodan
The massive Pterosaur became a fan favorite in the 1956 Toho classic of the same name, and since, has made his re-imagined appearance in the Monsterverse with Godzilla: King of The Monsters. Rodan bursts on-screen out of a volcano, possessing the ability to fly at supersonic speed, as well as creating supersonic thunderclaps with his wings. This is without mentioning that Rodan radiates at temperatures of up to 1200°c, making him a troublesome foe. Although on the surface it’s an awesome-looking and very powerful creature, Rodan ends up losing every battle he is faced with, and ends up succumbing to the King of the Monsters every time. Thankfully, Rodan isn’t dead, so we can all look forward to seeing him again.
5 Mothra
This beautifully elegant moth may not at first pose a deadly threat, but her vicious stinger, sharp legs, and loyalty to her friends prove that Mothra is certainly the MVP of the whole universe. Sadly, meeting her demise in Godzilla: King of The Monsters, Mothra goes out with a bang, defeating Rodan, before sacrificing herself for Godzilla, and transferring all her power into him, making an uber Godzilla that can finally defeat King Ghidorah. We miss you Mothra!
4 Mechagodzilla
Fans rightfully lost their minds when Mechagodzilla was introduced in the epic Godzilla Vs Kong, especially when the gigantic robotic creature went toe-to-toe with both Godzilla and Kong in an epic team-up; it’s safe to say that although his appearance was short, it was by no means disappointing. Mechagodzilla is essentially a robotic version of Godzilla, with a similar, although sleeker design, as well as Godzilla’s all-powerful atomic breath. Mechagodzilla did prove a challenge for the King of the Monsters, especially considering the robotic creature possessed the consciousness of King Ghidorah. With the help of Kong, the two managed to defeat the titan.
3 King Ghidorah
With a name like King Ghidorah, you have to be cool, right? Well, top that with three heads, a hydra-like design, gigantic wings, and extremely powerful electric blasts that shoot from all three of Ghidorah’s mouths, and Ghidorah is one of the coolest creatures in cinematic history. Making his very first appearance in the 1964 Toho classic of the same name, King Ghidorah became an instantly iconic and powerful rival to Godzilla, which got fans excited about their showdown in the MonsterVerse’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and it did not disappoint.
As an extra-terrestrial Titan, Ghidorah is clearly more powerful than Godzilla, beating him on numerous occasions, and it was only with the help of Mothra that Godzilla could ultimately defeat him, making Godzilla the new King of the Monsters.
2 Kong
Narrowly missing out on the top spot is the king himself, Kong. Kong doesn’t possess any abilities or power like the rest of the Titans on the list; however, Kong still manages to hold his own against the most mighty of titans. The gigantic gorilla is easily the most sympathetic on this list, and although only appearing in two movies in the universe, fans instantly fell head-over-heels for him.
As the last of his kind, Kong was forced to protect Skull Island from the nasty Skull Crawlers that, if they overran it, would destroy the world. Later, Kong would go on to fight the King of the Monsters, Godzilla, as Kong was the only other Alpha Titan left, and seeing Kong as a challenge to his throne, Godzilla would hunt him down until Kong was either dead or bowed down to Godzilla. But being the awesome Alpha Titan he is, Kong bows down to no one, and goes toe-to-toe against the powerful Godzilla before teaming up with him to take down Mechagodzilla. Are they now friends? Hopefully, but to us, they are both Kings.
1 Godzilla
Who else could take the top spot but the one that started it all, the powerful alpha titan, Godzilla? The almighty, atomic-breathing lizard is, and always will be the King of the Monsters, battling anyone who gets in his way, from King Ghidorah, to MUTOs, and of course, Kong. All of which, he proved victorious against, cementing Godzilla as the most powerful of them all. Godzilla possesses many abilities and powers, including breathing an awesome and powerful atomic blast, as well as being able to swim underwater for long periods of time. Sure, he isn’t as powerful on land, but as the record states, Godzilla still won all his battles on land. Godzilla truly is the King of the Monsters.
