A pair of stunning new posters have arrived to further remind us that The Batman is almost upon us, ready to carry out his own, more brutal than usual, brand of justice. Released via TwitterMovies, the first poster consists of an extreme close-up of star Robert Pattinson, his leading man looks disguised under a much more obviously self-made version of the iconic cowl. Reflected in his eye is a green question mark, the calling card of mysterious serial killer The Riddler, who will unearth some difficult truths for The Dark Knight.
The second poster puts The Batman alongside ally/enemy/love-interest Catwoman, with the pair of costumed DC characters shown standing in front of the Gotham skyline during a glorious sunrise. The events of The Batman will force the Caped Crusader and Catwoman to work together in order to stop The Riddler, with the duo’s rich history going all the way back to childhood.

Director Matt Reeves has recently offered further insight into the relationship between Batman and Catwoman, revealing that it will be the influence of the antihero cat-burglar that makes Bruce Wayne realize certain things about himself. “It takes a very special safety net to even be able to do what he’s doing,” the filmmaker explained. “Yes, OK: He’s risking his life, but he’s risking his life in the way that only someone who has all the resources that he has can do. He absolutely has privilege, there’s no question. He was born with privilege. He is a descendant of city royalty.”
He continues saying, “I wanted him to have an awakening of sorts where he would question her about what she was doing,” the director added. “And she says, you know, I don’t know who you are. But whoever you are, you obviously grew up rich.”
The Batman Will Introduce Audiences to a More Inexperienced Version of the Iconic Superhero
Warner Bros.
Directed by Matt Reeves, who wrote the screenplay with Peter Craig, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman alongside Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell. The movie will introduce audiences to a much earlier, more inexperienced version of The Batman than they are perhaps used to, picking up with the vigilante a mere two years into his career of stalking the streets as the Caped Crusader.
Striking fear into the hearts of criminals has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City, and with only a few trusted allies, including Alfred Pennyworth and James Gordon, amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.
When a killer known as The Riddler targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Catwoman, The Penguin, and Carmine Falcone. As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.
The Batman is scheduled for release on March 4, 2022.
