The Batman home releases are making their way to the audience as it nears the HBO Max release, along with its Blu-ray debut slated for next month. Matt Reeves’ The Batman is slated to release on Blu-ray discs on May 24th, in 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD format. And it’s going to be filled with special features for the fans to dive into the backdrop of the making of The Batman.
The studio has released a complete list of features (via ComicBook.com) that will come in the Blu-ray pack for the film. It features several behind-the-scenes moments where the makers brainstormed to create iconic sequences like Batman’s wingsuit, the Car Chase, and Colin Farrell’s transformation in Penguin. The discs are also going to feature deleted scenes and the director’s commentary from Reeves, allowing viewers to have a highly immersive experience with the hit film.

Here’s the list of special features in The Batman Blu-ray discs:
As for the deleted scenes, one can expect that the film will include the iconic sequence of Joker’s interrogation featuring Barry Keoghan, which Reeves released last month. It’s possible that this time, the scene will be included within the film and not as an extra shot, thus serving as a potential tease for the sequel. The sequence has gained much traction for the film, with many deeming Keoghan’s more broken and visually grotesque take on the clown prince of crime, and fans would be excited to have that scene become canon to the Batverse.

Despite clocking at 2 hours and 55 minutes, the film was redacted in the editing room, with Reeves’ early cut stretching to almost four hours. This means there could be a couple more finished sequences that we never saw in the film, and fans might have the chance to view them in the Blu-ray edition.
Among these remarkable entries in the special features are the ones titled Anatomy of The Wingsuit and A Transformation: Penguin. The former will take a dive into the few-second long sequence that featured Robert Pattinson’s Batman gliding using a wingsuit. In Nolan films, Batman’s ability to glide was powered by his elegant suit design, wherein his cape material can stretch itself to become a glider. Here, the Batman zips up his cape partially, turning it into a wingsuit.
On the other hand, the latter will be a comprehensive take on Colin Farrell’s makeup transition into Penguin. The actor notably went unrecognized during the first trailer of the film. And since he is set to reprise his role in the upcoming HBO Max original, Penguin, it will be interesting to know about his approach to the character, whose role was limited in the film.
From Joker to Penguin, along with the Riddler, the Blu-ray discs of The Batman are bringing a lot to the table for the film apart from its theatrical cut, making the package a wholesome experience with Matt Reeves’ Batverse, giving fans a chance to look straight into the director’s vision for the franchise.
