The Bad Batch is a new Star Wars animated TV series on DIsney+. The show revolves around a group of Clone Troopers, referred to as Clone Force 99, who each have a mutation in their genetics of some kind. The first season followed the group during and immediately after the execution of Order 66, which they do not take part in. When one of their own turns on them, Clone Force 99 is forced to go on the run, evading capture from the Empire while also managing to take care of themselves. The Bad Batch was met with a great deal of praise, with many, like Dork Side of the Force, considering it the best animated TV series since The Clone Wars.
Since the release of the trailer for season 2 of The Bad Batch, fans have been all abuzz about what is to come next. While there are plenty of season 1 characters set to return, including the whole of Clone Force 99, Cid and Rex, there are quite a few other characters we’ve seen before in other Star Wars properties who are set to make their Bad Batch debut. Of course, fans have theorized about potential appearances from characters in season two, with many hoping that Ahsoka and even perhaps Darth Vader will have small cameos, but these are just theories. Until its September 2022 release, per Space, here’s a look at five Star Wars characters who are confirmed to make an appearance.

5 Mas Amedda
Lucasfilm Animation
One of the most forgotten yet most sinister characters in the Star Wars universe is Mas Amedda. Mas Amedda served as Palpatine’s right hand when he was Supreme Chancellor. As a result, he knew of Palpatine’s grand design to take down the Republic and turn their democracy into an Empire under Palpatine’s control. This can be seen in Attack of the Clones when Mas Amedda and Emperor Palpatine manipulated Jar Jar into prompting the Senate to vote to give Palpatine more power than he already had. He expected to return in the second season of The Bad Batch as we will see how he fits in the new era of Star Wars politics.

4 Commander Cody
One of the most revered clone troopers in the Star Wars franchise is Commander Cody, known for his tactical combat skills and strategy, making him a perfect Commander-match for Obi-Wan Kenobi. While we’ve seen Rex return in The Bad Batch’s first season, it’s to be expected that Cody will return to the universe in season 2, given that he too is a clone with an inhibitor chip. While some may be hoping that Cody will be on the side of Clone Force 99, the trailer has shown a very different side of the clonetrooper as he seems to be working alongside Crosshair to hunt down Clone Force 99 and eliminate them.
3 Gungi
While many fans have been demanding that there be a Wookie Jedi, there already is one. Gungi is the Wookie Jedi padawan who makes his first appearance in The Clone Wars. When fans saw Gungi in the trailer for The Bad Batch, they were ecstatic to see the return of this beloved character. Since the show takes place after Order 66, it will be interesting to see what happened to Gungi and how he managed to escape execution. Considering the fact that some of the second season is set to take place on Kashyyyk, we can expect to see more Wookies in their natural habitat.
2 Emperor Palpatine
“It is time for a new era,” Palpatine says in the trailer for The Bad Batch season 2. Audiences will have seen a more detailed gradual rise to power for Palpatine throughout the many seasons of The Clone Wars, witnessing the manipulative ways in which he slowly turned Anakin to the Dark Side and sunk his claws into the Republic. Now, with the end of the Clone Wars and the execution of Order 66, Palpatine clearly has more plans in motion. We know throughout Rebels and the original Star Wars movie trilogy just how powerful Palpatine becomes. The Bad Batch season 2 will take us to the start of his reign as Emperor.
1 Zillo Beast
The Zillo Beast was a Godzilla-like creature introduced in the second season of The Clone Wars as a monstrous beast that was awakened by the EMPs sent out by the inhabitants of the planet to beat the separatist machines. While the beast was transported to Coruscant and got loose, Palpatine’s people managed to subdue and capture it. It was eventually revealed that Palpatine had every intention of cloning the beast. However, since this incident, the Zillo Beast had seemingly disappeared. That being said, a Zillo beast does appear in the new trailer for The Bad Batch, implying that Palpatine has succeeded in cloning the beast and is using it as part of his journey to control the galaxy. Considering how virtually indestructible it was to everyone’s weapons, Jedi and clonetroopers alike, it’ll be exciting to see how Clone Force 99 and/or other character deal with the monster.
