Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds continues to dominate Netflix as his latest foray, The Adam Project, has become the fourth most-watched English-language movie on the streaming service. According to Deadline, Netflix has announced that The Adam Project has been viewed (and presumably enjoyed) by many subscribers, garnering 233,150,000 views in its first 28 days on the platform.
These huge viewing numbers put The Adam Project in fourth place on Netflix’s rankings, with Ryan Reynolds also holding the title of being the first actor to hold three positions in the streaming platform’s top ten. Sitting at the top spot is Red Notice, which sees Reynolds unite with both Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot for a globe-trotting adventure and saw 364,020,000 views in its first 28 days, with Reynolds and director Michael Bay’s action thriller 6 Underground coming in at number 3, which drew 205,470,000 views.

The rest of the list is comprised of the satirical political comedy Don’t Look Up at number 2, post-apocalyptic tale Bird Box at number 3, and the Chris Hemsworth-led action flick Extraction at number 5. These are followed by the drama The Unforgivable starring Sandra Bullock (which means the actress has two films in the top ten), Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, the teen romantic comedy The Kissing Booth 2, and finally Mark Wahlberg’s Spenser Confidential, which sits at number 10.
The Adam Project Has Been Praised for Being a Delightful 80s Sci-Fi Throwback
Netflix
The Adam Project sees Ryan Reynolds reunite with Free Guy director Shawn Levy for this sci-fi action flick, which works hard to pay tribute to the beloved childhood hits of the 1980s. Starring Ryan Reynolds and newcomer Walker Scobell (whose star is set to rise fast after being recently cast in the lead role for the upcoming Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians) as the older and younger versions of the titular Adam, The Adam Project centers on a 13-year-old Adam as he navigates his way through school and bullies, before being awoken in the night by a mysterious noise.
Adam quickly discovers that the older version of himself, played by Ryan Reynolds, has been injured after a crash landing which comes as a result of him traveling from the future and into his own childhood. On a mission to save his lost love, the two Adams must work together to avoid enemies from the future and tackle issues from the past.
Co-starring Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, Catherine Keener, and Zoe Saldaña alongside Ryan Reynolds and Walker Scobell, The Adam Project has since been met with largely positive reviews. Many critics were taken with the movie’s crowd-pleasing nature, as well as its humor and genuine emotion. Others, meanwhile, could not help but be captivated by The Adam Project’s old-school tone, comparing the movie to such beloved classics as Back to The Future and Flight of the Navigator, with some critics even likening The Adam Project to the works of Steven Spielberg.
