That ‘70s Show stars Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp return as Red and Kitty Forman in the first trailer for the upcoming Netflix sequel series, That ‘90s Show. Released courtesy of the official Netflix YouTube channel, the trailer welcomes you back to your favorite basement. We see the same old Formans, but this time they must deal with a whole new group of friends. Check out the trailer for That ‘90s Show below.

Following on from the hugely popular sitcom That ’70s Show, which aired between 1998 and 2005, That ‘90s Show will center on Leia Forman, the teenage daughter of Eric Forman (Topher Grace) and Donna Pinciotti (Laura Prepon), two of the main characters from That ‘70s Show. The show follows Leia as she forms bonds and makes friends with other teenagers while spending the summer of 1995 with her grandparents, Red and Kitty, in Point Place, Wisconsin, 15+1⁄2 years after the events of That 70’s Show concluded on December 31, 1979.

Finding herself under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red, fans of That ‘70s Show (there aren’t really any fans of the prior, failed sequel series That ’80s Show, as far as we are aware) are excited to see these characters return and attempt to navigate life in the 1990s.

That ‘90s Show will be led by Callie Haverda (The Lost Husband, Shut Eye) as Leia Forman, who has clearly taken on the attributes of both her parents as she is described as a smart, snarky teenager who craves adventure. Sitting with Leia in a smoke-haze circle are the likes of Ashley Aufderheide (Four Kids and It) as Gwen, Mace Coronel (Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn) as Jay, Maxwell Acee Donovan (Gabby Duran & The Unsittables) as Nate, Reyn Doi (Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar) as Ozzie, and newcomer Sam Morelos as Nikki.

Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith reprise their fan-favorite roles as Kitty and Red Forman, respectively — roles that they will clearly slip effortlessly back into.

Several of the original cast is also set to reprise their roles and feature in some capacity in the follow-up to That ‘70s Show. Both Topher Grace and Laura Prepon will return as Eric Forman and Donna Pinciotti, Leia’s parents. Wilmer Valderrama is also due to reprise the role of Fez, with the actor recently revealing that he has been working on bringing the accent back.

That ‘90s Show will also feature Mila Kunis as Jackie Burkhart and Ashton Kutcher as Michael Kelso, with Kunis revealing what it was like to return to the world of That ‘70s Show all these years later. “It was weird to shoot together, I will tell you. It made me super nervous,” she said. “Oh my God, I was more nervous doing that than anything else in my career — was to shoot with my husband on the set of ’70s show. ‘Cause the set is exactly the same. To be married, but to be at the place where we met — and it looks the same — was trippy. We walked on set and I was like, ‘Oh … this is weird.’ It was really weird.”

Tommy Chong will also feature in That ‘90s Show as Leo; the Army Veteran turned Hippie who owns the Foto Hut.

That ‘90s Show is scheduled to be released on January 19 on Netflix.
