The full cast has been locked down for That ’90s Show, a new series in the works at Netflix that picks up a couple of decades after the events of That ’70s Show. The series will bring back Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp as Red and Kitty Forman. With new kids around the house to bring out the old Red, the spring in Red’s step puts a spring in Kitty’s too, according to Netflix. Kitty also feels right at home with this whole new world with the new generation that has been opened up to her.

The logline for That ’90s Show reads: “Hello, Wisconsin! It’s 1995 and Leia Forman, daughter of Eric and Donna, is visiting her grandparents for the summer, where she bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red. Sex, drugs and rock ’n roll never dies, it just changes clothes.”

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Starring as the new Point Place teens, the new show’s series regulars include the Formans’ granddaughter Leia. Callie Haverda (The Lost Husband, Shut Eye) plays Leia Forman. Smart like her mom, snarky like her dad, Leia is craving adventure. She’s just not quite sure where or how to start. Until she discovers a best friend in the most unlikely of places: next door to her grandparents house in Point Place.

The series also stars Ashley Aufderheide (Emergence, Four Kids and It) as Gwen. Life gets more interesting for Leia when she meets this Riot Grrrl. Equal parts loyalty, rebellion and heart, Gwen is a dynamic powerhouse and the unofficial leader of the new generation of Point Place kids. Love Gwen. Fear her. Follow her. Mace Coronel (Pocket, Wireless, Colin in Black & White) also stars as Jay. Jay is charming and flirty - at least, he tries. It doesn’t always come outright. When he’s not hanging out with his best friend Nate or working at the local video store, he’s armed with a video camera and the whole world is his film set.

Also featured is Maxwell Acee Donovan (Gabby Duran & The Unsittables) as Nate. The polar opposite of his little sister, Gwen. Nate takes life as it comes, usually with a big open smile. He lets the gang ride in his van because there’s always something fun on the other side of the drive. He loves his family, his girlfriend, and Garth Brooks. Reyn Doi (Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar, Side Hustle, Drama Club) plays Ozzie. Everyone loves them some Ozzie. He’s insightful, sarcastic and has perspective beyond his years. Ozzie is gay and impatient with the world for not being as accepting as his friends.

And Sam Morelos is introduced as Nikki. Nikki is focused, smart, and driven. From the outside, you could easily see her becoming a doctor or a lawyer. But inside, she has more rebellion than a frustrated debutante and her boyfriend Nate can scratch that itch.

We’ll Likely See Some Other Familiar Faces on That ’90s Show

No other original cast members from That ’70s Show are confirmed for this time, but as we saw with what Netflix did with Fuller House, chances are other originals will make special appearances. Topher Grace returning to see his parents at some point seems probable, as how can you have the Formans without Eric? Laura Prepon has also expressed her excitement about the spinoff, suggesting she’d likely be interested in appearing.

“Couldn’t be happier for the wonderful Debra Jo Rupp & Kurtwood Smith [in] That ’90s Show,” Prepon said on Instagram. “Can’t wait to see Red & Kitty together again!”

Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp are also serving as executive producers. The show is created by showrunner Gregg Mettler and writers Bonnie Turner, Terry Turner, and Lindsey Turner. They all serve as executive producers as well alongside Marcy Carsey and Tom Werner under The Carsey-Werner Company.
