For as horrifying as Teen Wolf could be sometimes, the show also had a habit of slowing things down to deliver some heartbreaking moments. Whether they be massive character deaths, devastating dialogue, or events of recollection, they bring about tragic emotions. Given the number of villains who have rampaged through Beacon Hills, the McCall Pack is constantly forced to deal with people getting hurt or dying. Although they try to protect everyone, sometimes, things can not be avoided. The complete understanding of the Argent family’s hunter’s code shows how devastating it can be when Allison must face her mother’s death.

Scott is terrified for his best friend when Stiles’ reactions to the Nemeton are more significant than his or Allison’s. Season three featured numerous devastating moments, including the Motel Glen Capri, where Scott is possessed by a supernatural entity encouraging him to want to die, and Allison’s death. Even Derek’s dark backstory that explains his blue werewolf eyes is explored, showing the first signs of first love and the tragedy that comes with it. However, season six also featured big emotional points given the Ghost Riders storyline, how it connects to Lydia’s feelings of needing to find Stiles, and how his being missing causes the Sheriff to fill the void.

9 Lydia Helps Stiles Through A Panic Attack

With Stilinksi, Melissa McCall, and Argent all taken, Stiles knows it is time for the sacrifice. Having already lost his mother years ago, Stiles can not stand the thought of losing his father. At this point, the stakes are already high, with the uncertainty of how the adults will get out of this and how the McCall Pack will save their parents. But, Stiles’ breakdown and panic attack is a reminder of how human Teen Wolf can sometimes be. Lydia quickly pulls him aside and kisses him to get Stiles to hold his breath and calm down. It is a moment that bonds them together while finding a new center.

8 Derek’s First Innocent Kill

Derek does not have the best luck regarding relationships, but his first important one is entirely innocent. Derek and Paige’s romance is sweet but devastatingly cut short. An attempt to turn Paige into a werewolf as a way to keep her and Derek together goes wrong. Rather than turn, Derek and Paige realize the bite is killing her. Derek’s blue eyes are not a result of an angry rampage but from mercy-killing his girlfriend in her plea for the pain to stop. It certainly counts as one of the most horrible moments in Derek’s life.

7 Scott And Stiles Prepare For The MRI

After sacrificing themselves to the Nemeton, Stiles’ reactions are different. He cannot read and gains frighteningly similar symptoms to his late mother’s dementia. Stiles, fully aware this is the disease that killed his mother, is scared of what will happen, and he is not alone. Stilinksi and Melissa are both present for the MRI, as is Scott. However, the conversation between Scott and Stiles as Stiles prepares for the test has Scott promising to save Stiles and giving him a hug just before the test starts. Throughout season 3b, there are plenty of moments where it seems as if Stiles will be dying soon.

6 Stiles And Scott’s Big Fight

Stiles and Scott had survived everything as best friends, as brothers, making their season five fight and rift so awful and confusing. Theo’s intervention allows him to slowly get Scott to doubt Stiles, causing the break in their friendship when Scott believes Stiles purposefully murders Donovan. Stiles is destroyed by the argument, as he had already admitted his greatest fear from telling Scott the truth was losing him. Scott’s refusal to talk it out and listen to Stiles, as well as Stiles never fully revealing everything that occurred, left the duo and viewers saddened by the turn of events.

5 Scott And The Flare

The supernatural side effects of the Glen Capri Motel have resulted in far too many suicides on the property. Toward the end of “Motel California,” Stiles, Lydia, and Allison finally find out how the motel has affected Scott. Scott, just like the other werewolves, is planning to kill himself. When he is found, Scott is standing in a puddle of gasoline, holding a flare in preparation to set himself on fire. Scott’s heartbreaking speech, partially inspired by his grief over believing Derek is dead, is about thinking everyone he loves would be better off if Scott were dead. He recalls the days when it was just him and Stiles, but through a lens when they were nothing, and thinking that would be best for him again.

However, Stiles’ response to Scott is just as heart-wrenching. Stepping into the gasoline, Stiles reminds Scott that they are brothers and is willing to die alongside his best friend. Although Stiles plans to throw away the flare, it nearly fails when the wind sends it back in their direction.

4 The Sheriff Remembers Stiles

After the Ghost Riders take Stiles, his father no longer remembers having a son. But, the void of not having a son or a wife may be too much. So, unable to handle losing his son, Stilinski fills the gap with a fake resurrection of his late wife, Claudia. To Beacon Hills, Claudia is authentic. Everyone can speak to and interact with her, but there are still signs of the truth, such as a reference to her dementia in her hospital file. However, if anyone thinks too hard about having spent time with her in the past, just like Stilinski, they’ll likely come up short.

But, after being repeatedly encouraged by Lydia to remember a son he can not recall, Stilinski finally believes, stepping into Stiles’ room and putting the pieces together. Stilinski’s reveal of remembering his son comes with the final admission of Stiles’ first name and explaining that for a brief second after remembering Stiles that Stilinski had seen him.

3 Rescuing Lydia From Eichen House

Lydia certainly did not want to be trapped in Eichen House. After being experimented on and tortured within the facility, Lydia cannot escape alone, even though she nearly succeeded. But luckily, her pack comes to the rescue. Stiles enacts a plan to get Lydia out of Eichen House. When he finally reunites with her, Lydia begs him to leave. Although Stiles hides, he does not go, sticking around after Eichen House goes into lockdown to ensure he leaves with Lydia by his side. Lydia’s exhaustion and relief after getting out of there are palpable.

2 Lydia Remembers Stiles

Lydia runs season six’s wish to reunite with Stiles. While Scott and Malia determine briefly that Stiles is not real, and it takes forever for Stilinksi to believe her, Lydia is adamant that Stiles is real. She can feel that Stiles is authentic in every part of her, even when there is no proof to back her up. Lydia’s entire journey throughout the first half of season 6 is an emotional rollercoaster as she tries to prove Stiles is real and occasionally breaks down in desperation to remember and reunite with him.

When Lydia finally does gain more substantial memories of Stiles, it comes with the terrifying realization that she had never said it back when Stiles said he loved her right before being taken. Their reunion is also very emotional as Lydia arrives just in time to rescue Stiles when he is close to death.

1 Allison Dies

Allison’s death may be the most emotional on the show and makes one of the most significant impacts. Allison had been necessary to so many characters. Her father’s only child. Scott’s first love. Lydia’s best friend. She was also a good friend of Stiles and Isaac’s girlfriend. Allison had been at the center of so much that it made sense that something broke in all of them when she died. Although Allison died finding a way to defeat the Oni, her death remained an emotional point seasons later, as she is always remembered by those who knew her.
