Players of FIFA 23 will be able to select Ted Lasso as a playable manager in Career Mode. You can also manage AFC Richmond by swapping them into the Premier League or another Career Mode playable league. The AFC Richmond players will be playable across Career Mode, Kick-Off, Online Friendlies, and Online Seasons. That includes The Greyhounds’ Nelson Road home stadium.
EA also notes that in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, players can “show your love for AFC Richmond with a series of customization items including authentic kits and TIFOs, as well as being able to find and select Ted Lasso or Coach Beard as your club’s manager. All AFC Richmond content in FUT will be available through objectives and challenges.”
Ted Lasso’s Video Game Debut Follows the TV Show’s Success
EA
Ted Lasso debuted on Apple Tv+ in 2020. The show follows Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis), an American college football coach who takes a job coaching English football, aka soccer. Though very inexperienced and a questionable choice for the job, Ted manages to win people over with his incredibly optimistic attitude and natural charm.
The first season of Ted Lasso garnered 20 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, setting a new record as the most-nominated first season of a comedy show in Emmy history. Jason Sudeikis, Brett Goldstein, and Hannah Waddingham all won acting awards for that first season. This year, for its second season, Sudeikis and Goldstein took in additional acting Emmy wins while MJ Delaney won an Emmy for directing. Season 2 also won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Of course, given all of this continued success, a third season of Ted Lasso is currently in the works. That popularity has now spread to the world of video games with the characters coming to FIFA 23 as well. However, all good things must come to an end, as Goldstein has suggested that season 3 will likely be the show’s final season.
Ted Lasso and AFC Richmond will be available in FIFA 23 starting on Sept. 30, 2022. You can find out more about the game at the official website for EA. Season 3 of the TV show Ted Lasso does not yet have a premiere date but you can currently stream the first two seasons on Apple TV+.
