Actor Taylor Lautner still feels remorseful over what happened at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009. Back at that time, Lautner was on the rise in Hollywood as one of the stars of the Twilight movie series. At one point, he dated pop star Taylor Swift, and the two happened to be romantically involved during the 2009 VMAs. It was a big night for Swift, as she won the Best Female Video award for “You Belong with Me.” Making the occasion all the more special was then-boyfriend Lautner personally presenting her with the award when she came onto the stage.
What happens next is something everyone who’s seen it will never forget. Infamously, Kanye West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech to praise Beyonce, ruining the moment and shocking everyone who was watching. As it’s happening, Lautner can be seen still on the stage in the background. And that’s the time the Twilight star now says is the one moment he would change if he could, declaring it to be his biggest career regret. Lautner now wishes he would have done something instead of standing idly by, as he wasn’t aware of what was really happening until the moment was over.

The revelation comes from Lautner’s podcast, The Squeeze, which is co-hosted with wife Taylor Dome Lautner. Per TooFab, here’s what Lautner said when asked which career moment he would choose to relive if he had the ability.
Taylor Lautner Can Be Seen in Home Team
But perhaps all’s well that ends well, as Swift has obviously done just fine for herself since that embarrassing moment. Lautner would go on to continue starring in films after his Twilight years, most recently appearing with Kevin James in the Netflix movie Home Team. The movie was released on Netflix last year. Lautner also had main roles in the TV shows Cuckoo and Scream Queens.
Meanwhile, Swift is also getting more involved with film. It was recently announced that she is set to make her feature film directorial debut. As for Kanye, the hip-hop mogul’s reputation has gone downhill immensely over the past several months due to antisemitic comments and other controversies.
