She-Hulk: Attorney At Law is almost here to take you on a humorous legal-superhero adventure with Tatiana Maslany taking on the lead role. But did you know that Tatiana Maslany was close to playing another Marvel character?

Apparently, Maslany has been chasing Marvel Studios for a while to get the desired role, but the studio has been keeping her at bay all this time. In her attempts to become a part of the superhero verse at Marvel, Maslany auditioned for a role in Venom. Venom marked the beginning of an adjutant cinematic universe called Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, which is part of the unified Marvel Multiverse.

Fortunately, the actress didn’t get the part. Else she probably wouldn’t have gotten the chance to play She-Hulk. And even Tatiana is glad it didn’t work out as it wasn’t an integral part. During her appearance as a guest on the Comedy Bang Bang podcast, the actress revealed details of Venom auditions. At first, it seemed she was referencing Anne Weying/She-Venom, but that wasn’t the case. She was supposed to be a version of She-Venom, but not as integral and fascinating as Michelle William’s version.

Aukerman: “You have not been part of the MCU up ’til now. They’ve been trying to get you.”

Maslany: “I’ve been trying to get them.”

Aukerman: “Really?”

Maslany: “They’ve rejected me multiple times.”

The studio probably merged She-Venom with Anne Weying instead of giving Venom, the symbiote, a dating angle. The role was eventually cut from the film. Now that Maslany is playing She-Hulk, all happened for the better.

Aukerman: “For what? What did you try out for?”

Maslany: “Venom. Not for Venom, unfortunately. But for Venom’s girlfriend or whatever.”

Aukerman: “Venom’s girlfriend?”

Maslany: “(laughs) Yeah.”

Aukerman: “Not even Tom Hardy– Eddie Brock’s girlfriend, just Venom’s girlfriend?”

Maslany: “(laughs) Just Venom’s girlfriend. Just the symbiote’s girlfriend.”

Aukerman: “Who was [Venom] trying to date?”

Maslany: “She was cut out. (laughs)”

Maslany’s Perfect Marvel Debut

     Marvel Studios

Sony’s Venom has been a successful series, but we still haven’t seen She-Venom taking much charge in those films, and her character hasn’t been adequately utilized. With She-Hulk, Maslany is getting a perfect Marvel debut, playing the central lead and paving the way for multiple future appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Once you enter the MCU as a hero or heroine, you will be a part of the big game. Now that Marvel Television is folded into Marvel Studios and Maslany is in Kevin Feige’s hands, her future in the MCU is pretty bright. And since the early reviews of the show are quite positive, Tatiana’s future will be further explored in subsequent Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. Who knows she crossover with her ‘friend’ Matt Murdock in Daredevil: Born Again?

The Orphan Black alum is finally living her dream as her show, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, will begin streaming on Disney+ on August 18. The show follows Jennifer Walters, who becomes She-Hulk after getting an accidental blood transfusion with her cousin, Bruce Banner.

Besides Maslany’s debut, the show marks the return of Tim Roth’s Emil Blonsky, who this time will face his nemesis Bruce, but in Mark Ruffalo’s form. Ginger Gonzaga, Jameela Jamil, Josh Segarra, Jon Bass, Benedict Wong, and Charlie Cox also star.
