Horror filmmaker Josh Ruben (Scare Me, Werewolves Within) has lined up the two lead stars of his next feature film. Variety reports that Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Orphan Black) and Jasmin Savoy Brown (Scream, Scream VI) have signed on to co-star in Green Bank, a sci-fi horror movie helmed by Ruben. Written by Aaron Horwitz (The Cleansing Hour), Green Bank hails from Protagonist Pictures with Horwitz’s Big Swell Entertainment producing.

According to a plot description, Green Bank is set in a “real American town where wifi, cell service and all other radio transmissions are heavily forbidden. The film follows infant sleep-trainer Sloan (Brown), who realizes that the parents of the child she’s caring for are much more than the clueless yuppies they seem to be.”

Ruben has also spoken out about the film, teasing that this is the kind of horror movie that filmgoers can have fun with when seeing it at the movie theater. Given the success of the recently-released M3GAN, which could certainly be described as a “fun” horror film, perhaps Ruben is onto something with this way of thinking.

“In a marketplace where original, horror-thrillers slay at the box office, we need no further proof that audiences want to have fun at the movies again,” he said. “That’s the magic word. Fun. Horror is the bulletproof genre, and Green Bank has the full package — it’s smart, scary and wickedly funny.”

The article also describes Green Book as “wall-to-wall, fright-filled fun led by a fiercely talented cast hailing from beloved franchises.”

Jasmin Savoy Brown Is an Established Scream Queen

Jasmin Savoy Brown made a big mark in horror with her role as Mindy in the fifth Scream movie released last year. She will be reprising that role in the upcoming sequel, Scream VI, which is coming to theaters next month. Brown can also be seen starring in the Showtime series Yellowjackets, and the second season for that show is also coming in March as well. Her other horror work includes a starring role in 2021’s Sound of Violence, a bloody slasher film.

Tatiana Maslany might be best known as the titular star of the Marvel series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, though this follows an acclaimed, Emmy-winning performance for her role in the sci-fi series Orphan Black. She’s no stranger to the horror genre, having once worked with George A. Romero to appear in the zombie movie Diary of the Dead. Maslany has also appeared in other genre films like Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed and The Messengers, though her roles in more recent years have been much lighter.

Green Bank doesn’t yet have a release date.
