Hollywood superstar and action movie legend Sylvester Stallone is an exiled mob boss in the first trailer for Tulsa King. Released courtesy of the official Paramount Plus YouTube channel, the footage finds Stallone forced to build a new criminal empire from the ground up after he is unceremoniously sent off to Tulsa, Oklahoma. You can check out the first trailer for Tulsa King below.

Tulsa King will follow New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi, played by Rocky and Rambo star Sylvester Stallone, just after he is released from prison after 25 years and exiled by his boss to set up shop in Tulsa, Okla. Realizing that his mob family may not have his best interests in mind, Dwight slowly builds a “crew” from a group of unlikely characters, to help him establish a new criminal empire in a place that, to him, might as well be another planet.

Tulsa King looks to be a very different role for Stallone, with the iconic actor making his scripted television debut in the Paramount+ series. Despite some clear differences for the star, the sight of Stallone wielding a baseball bat and looking to cause some mayhem will no doubt be more than enough to get people watching.

The series also stars Andrea Savage (I’m Sorry), Martin Starr (Silicon Valley), Max Casella (The Tender Bar), Domenick Lombardozzi (The Irishman), Vincent Piazza (Boardwalk Empire), Jay Will (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), A.C. Peterson (Superman & Lois) with Garrett Hedlund (The United States vs. Billie Holiday) alongside Sylvester Stallone.

Tulsa King was created by Taylor Sheridan, who is best known for the likes of Sicario, Hell or High Water, and Wind River on the big screen, as well as Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown, and both 1883 and 1923 on the small screen. Which really is quite the curriculum vitae. The writer behind the likes of The Wolf of Wall Street, The Sopranos, and Boardwalk Empire will act as showrunner on Tulsa King, with the series executive-produced by Sheridan, Winter, Stallone, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin and Allen Coulter. Braden Aftergood is also set to executive-produce.

As well as playing a shamed mob boss, Sylvester Stallone will soon reunite with Jason Statham for The Expendables 4. Featuring an ensemble cast including Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Sylvester Stallone, each of whom will reprise their roles from previous installments, the likes of Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, Andy García, Tony Jaa, Jacob Scipio, Iko Uwais, and Levy Tran will also be added the action-packed antics.

Stallone has since revealed that he will only have a small role in The Expendables 4, with the actor stepping away from the franchise to make way for Jason Statham’s character Lee Christmas to take the lead. “This will be my last day,” Stallone said in an Instagram post from the set of the action follow-up. “I’m enjoying it, but it’s always bittersweet when something you’ve been so attached to — I guess since, well now it’s been about 12 years - and ready to pass the baton on to Jason in his capable hands.”

Tulsa King will be available to stream on November 13, exclusively on Paramount+.
