Now Quinn has been speaking about the moment that left Stranger Things fans devastated.

Eddie Munson was introduced in the first episode of Stranger Things’ fourth season as the leader of The Hellfire Club, a dedicated group of D&D players that also includes Stranger Things regulars Mike, Lucas, and Dustin. Over the season, Eddie found himself on the run, being thought by the townsfolk of Hawkins to be behind the killings of Vecna. As he endeared himself to fans, it was predicted by many that he would not make it beyond the season, and that proved to be true. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Quinn explained how Eddie’s death is all about redemption. He said:

“It’s a redemption tale. I think he’s completely haunted by his inability to do anything to save Chrissy and how powerless he was at that moment. And obviously being blamed for that murder is devastating and then having to go into hiding…then at some point in Episode 8, a switch flips, and he decides that he’s going to prove himself.”

Joseph Quinn Put Time Into Getting His Guitar Solo to Look Good

Prior to his death, Eddie is seen standing on top of his trailer distracting Vecna’s Demobats by blasting out “Master of Puppets”. While the actor explained that he didn’t actually play the most epic guitar solo for the scene, he returned to practicing the guitar as soon as he saw the script to make sure that he was able to shred out most of the track. He explained:

At the end of season 4, Eddie is still believed to be the cause of all the rifts opening up in Hawkins, and The Hellfire Club is still said to be in league with the devil. While there has been no word on whether Eddie will ever have his name cleared, Quinn has an opinion about that. He added:

“I was very lucky in the fact that I’ve been playing since I was young. I’ve had a huge amount of time off, but when I read the script, I went and bought the guitar and started practicing manically. The solo was not me. I’m not a heavy metal guitarist, so we got this brilliant virtuoso to come in and do that bit. But the rest I was able to film.”

Of course, there is still a lot to be tied up in season 5, and with this being the final season, all bets are off as to who lives and who dies. In the meantime, you can re-watch the entire Stranger Things saga only on Netflix.

“It feels kind of very unfair his name isn’t cleared, but hey, I don’t make the rules.”
