Several new posters for Stranger Things Season 4 tease the grey-and-grim atmosphere of the upcoming Netflix series. Released via social media, these latest posters spotlight some of the adults of the story, with Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, and Brett Gelman as Murray Bauman hovering amid a clashing red and blue sky.
Despite the explosive events at the end of Stranger Things Season 3, Jim Hopper is alive and well. Leaving behind his Magnum P.I. mustache and hair, Hopper will be resurrected in Stranger Things Season 4 with a shaved head thanks to his time spent in a prison in Russia. Actor David Harbour has even likened Hopper’s comeback to that of Gandalf the Grey in The Lord of the Rings.

“I’ve had those discussions with them from the very first season,” Harbour revealed back in September 2020. “We were always interested in that idea of the Gandalf resurrection - Gandalf the Grey who fights the Balrog and then becomes Gandalf the White. It’s the idea of the resurrection of the character. And mythologically, Hopper, in a sense, had to change. I mean, you couldn’t go on the way he was going on. He has to resurrect in some way. So it was a great opportunity to do that. So we’ll see a very different guy going forwards. The same guy but in a different vein. It’s a very cool thing to be able to play.”
Stranger Things Season 4 Will Land on Netflix in 25 Days
Netflix
Thanks to a recent trailer, we now have at least some idea of what the fourth season of Stranger Things will include. Stranger Things Season 4 will pick up around six months after the Battle of Starcourt. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends is separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces thanks to a secret Soviet laboratory under Starcourt, which seeks to open the gateway to the Upside Down, allowing the entities from the Upside Down to possess people in Hawkins.
The series will reunite audiences with the wonderful ensemble cast, including Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, and Joe Keery as Steve Harrington.
Alongside the various familiar faces, Stranger Things Season 4 will introduce a new villain to the town of Hawkins. A villain that could present the biggest and most personal threat that Eleven and her friends have ever faced.
Stranger Things Season 4 will be released in two parts, with the first volume set to premiere on Netflix on May 27, 2022. The second volume will be released five weeks later on July 1, 2022.
