A New Synopsis for The Acolyte Reveals Details of the Star Wars Series
Disney+
As well as confirmation of the cast, a new synopsis for The Acolyte has revealed our first details of the Star Wars series. Described as “a mystery-thriller,” The Acolyte “will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.”
Thus, The Acolyte will take audiences to an unexplored time in the Star Wars saga, setting the series around 100 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. So, while Star Wars fans are used to events from a long time ago, The Acolyte will be a from a long, long, long time ago. A time when the Jedi Order was at its prime. Which should provide The Acolyte with a unique take on a galaxy far, far away.
Russian Doll’s Leslye Headland is the creator, showrunner, and executive producer on The Acolyte, and will also direct the pilot episode. Further details have also now been confirmed alongside the cast and synopsis, with The Acolyte set to be produced by Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson with Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef on board as executive producers.
Production on The Acolyte is now underway in the United Kingdom. The series has not yet been given a release date, but will stream exclusively on Disney+.
