The highlight of Week 10’s bounty is a preorder for the Black Series Bo-Katan Kryze Premium Electronic Helmet. This is a prop replica of the helmet worn by Bo-Katan Kryze as played by Katee Sackhoff in The Mandalorian. This is a full scale and wearable electronic prop replica of her helmet, allowing the wearer to become Bo-Katan Kryze even if just for a little while. The helmet features a weathered look much like the original helmet, and has a push button drop down range finder with light up HUD. Preorders for the helmet are being taken through the Entertainment Earth website. Releasing in October of 2022, the helmet retails for $124.99, but the website promises free shipping within the United States.
The character of Bo-Katan Kryze was created by Star Wars writer Dave Filoni for the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and was voiced by and her look designed after Katee Sackhoff. The character is a Mandalorian who is a mamber of the ultra-aggressice sect known as the Death Watch that is intent on returning Mandalore to its ancient warrior ways. The character quickly became a fan favorite, and had several more appearances in The Clone Wars before also appearing in Star Wars: Rebels.
Bo-Katan’s character arc in the animated shows brought her a long way from the estranged sister of the leader of Mandalore to an ally of the Rebels who fought to free Mandalore from the Galactic Empire. At the end of her arc in the two animated series, Bo-Katan was granted the Darksaber by Sabine Wren and was named the new leader of Mandalore. Sometime between Rebels and The Mandalorian, Mandalore was purged by the Empire and Bo-Katan lost the Darksaber to Moff Gideon.
When it was announced that Bo-Katan would be appearing in The Mandalorian, many fans hoped that they would continue her story with the Darksaber, and they did. With the pinpoint casting of Katee Sackhoff reprising her role as the live action version of Bo-Katan, it was a seamless transition from the animated role to a live action version of the same character, and fans were excited about the possibilities that seeing Bo-Katan in the Mandalorian would bring.
And now, with this new prop replica, some of those same fans now have an easier option of cosplaying as one of their favorite characters.
