For many years, the Skywalker Saga films were the only official Star Wars features to be produced in live-action. That began to change with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which blew audiences away as the best Star Wars movie of the Disney era. Rogue One introduced the world to the Rebel spy, Cassian Andor, but gave him limited screen time before he met his heroic end. Now, Cassian Andor has become the latest Star Wars character to get his own Disney+ series Andor, which was designed to lead into the events of Rogue One.

Set during the earliest days of the Rebellion, Andor has introduced brand new characters while also bringing back a few familiar faces. Series creator Tony Gilroy has gone back to the Rogue One-style of making Star Wars feel “real.” As such, the primary characters featured in the series will not be wielding lightsabers nor possess the power to telekinetically lift rocks. Once again, we are back to seeing ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Here’s where you may have already seen the cast of Andor.

Diego Luna

The titular character of Andor was played by Diego Luna, who made his debut in the Star Wars universe six years prior in Rogue One. Outside of Star Wars, Luna has starred in Dirty Dancing: Hava Nights as Javier Suarez, The Terminal as Enrique Cruz, and the first two seasons of Narcos: Mexico as Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo. Luna has been no stranger to voice roles, leading The Book of Life as Manolo Sánchez, and Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans on Netflix as Krel Tarron. In 2011, Luna appeared in the music video for Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away” as the artist’s boyfriend.

Genevieve O’Reilly

Genevieve O’Reilly has played Mon Mothma since Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. She reprised the role in both Rogue One and Star Wars Rebels. O’Reilly has appeared in Forget Me Not as Eve Fisher, Tarzan’s mother in The Legend of Tarzan, and Gretchen in The Dry. On television, O’Reilly has been recognized for playing Hazel Buchanan on The Secret and Angela Worth on Tin Star. Some people have been surprised after finding out O’Reilly was the voice of Moira in the massively popular video game Overwatch.

Stellan Skarsgård

Joining a galaxy far, far, away as Luthen Rael, Stellan Skarsgård has already been a part of several other Disney franchises. He has played Dr. Erik Selvig in the Thor and Avengers movies, the Grand Duke in 2015’s Cinderella, and Bootstrap Bill Turner in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. Recently, Skarsgård was the villainous Baron Vladimir Harkonnen in Dune. You can also catch Skarsgård in Mamma Mia! as Bill Anderson and Boris Shcherbina in the HBO miniseries Chernobyl.

Adria Arjona

Before she was Bix Caleen in Andor, Adria Arjona was Sofia Herrera in the 2022 romantic comedy Father of the Bride. Appearing in several Netflix Original action films, Arjona played Yovanna in Triple Frontier and Amela, a.k.a. “Five” (The Doctor), in the Michael Bay-directed feature 6 Underground. Other notable roles have included Leandra Florez in The Belko Experiment, Jules Reyes in Pacific Rim: Uprising, and Martine Bancroft in Morbius. In the role of Dorothy Gale, Arjona led the cast of the NBC series Emerald City.

Denise Gough

Denise Gough has joined the Imperial Security Bureau as Star Wars’ Dedra Meero. Shortly before the release of Andor, Gough starred in the true crime miniseries Under the Banner of Heaven as Dianna Lafferty. Alongside Sebastian Stan, Gough played one of the two lead characters in the 2020 film Monday. In 2021, Gough was cast in another lead role as Sarah in the British horror film Martyrs Lane.

Kyle Soller

Andor’s Syril, Kyle Soller has perhaps been best known for his roles as Scotty McNeil in You, Me and the Apocalypse and Francis Poldark in Poldark. Throughout the years, Soller has played Henry in The Keeping Room, Karl Inkelaar in Monsters: Dark Continent, and Porter in Marrowbone. Soller has primarily had supporting or background roles, but that looks to change following the release of Andor. Years of performing on stage led to Soller being awarded the 2019 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor (via The Guardian) for his performance as Eric Glass in The Inheritance.

Fiona Shaw

In 2020, Fiona Shaw was listed in the top thirty of Ireland’s greatest film actors by The Irish Times. Shaw portrayed Petunia Dursley in all Harry Potter films with the exceptions of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. She was a major part of Killing Eve as Carolyn Martens and was in the fourth season of True Blood as Marnie Stonebrook. On Fleabag, Shaw made a brief appearance but left a powerful impression as Fleabag’s counsellor.

Forest Whitaker

After first playing Saw Gerrera in Rogue One, Forest Whitaker reprised his role in Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order before Andor. An experienced and acclaimed actor outside the Star Wars franchise, Whitaker recently portrayed Aretha Franklin’s father in the 2021 biopic Respect. Some of Whitaker’s impressive performances include Idi Amin in The Last King of Scotland, Cecil Gaines in The Butler, and crime boss Bumpy Johnson in Godfather of Harlem. In 2018, Whitaker was Zuri, the keeper of the heart-shaped herb in Black Panther.
