The buzz surrounding the upcoming Star Wars series on Disney+, Ahsoka, is growing as the cast starts to flush out. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ray Stevenson has signed on in an undisclosed role. Stevenson, who recently appeared on Vikings, is also known for appearing in Thor and its sequels as Volstagg, as well as Frank Castle in The Punisher: War Zone. How his character will be featured in the new episodes remains to be seen.

He joins series star Rosario Dawson, who has played title character Ahsoka Tano in both The Mandalorian and in The Book of Boba Fett. Other cast members include, Hayden Christensen who is set to appear in the new series, and will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in some forum or another, and Natasha Lie Bordizzo, Ivanna Sakhno. In January, it was reported that Mary Elizabeth Winstead also joined. Much of the details of whom they will be playing is still kept a secret.

Ray Stevenson is also known for playing the Ukrainian mobster Izaak Sirko in Dexter along with Blackbeard in Black Sails. His other work includes The Three Musketeers, King Arthur, Rome, and The Book of Eli, as well as Accident Man and its upcoming sequel Accident Man 2.

Who Will Ray Stevenson Be Playing in Star Wars: Ahsoka?

     Disney

Although details of the plot are not known just yet or much of the characters that will in the series, this is not Ray Stevenson’s first visit into the Star Wars universe. The actor voiced the role of a Mandalorian warrior Gar Saxon in both Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels. We know that Sabine Wren will be included in the new series, and that does point us in the direction of Mandalorians being involved in the story to some capacity. It doesn’t seem that he is expected to bring that character from animation to live action. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, sources say Stevenson will be playing a villainous admiral. Stevenson most recently played the role of Othere on History Channel’s Vikings.

We know that based on her live action debut in The Mandalorian that Ahsoka is on the hunt for Grand Admiral Thrawn and most likely look for Ezra Bridger from Star Wars: Rebels. However, that is all we really know as far as the story goes. With the Star Wars universe growing and exploring more characters from the animated series, the show can introduce a lot of our favorites and bring them into the live action series. Currently, Ahsoka is scheduled to start shooting in April and is written by Dave Filoni as well as executive produced by Filoni and Jon Favreau.

We don’t have a premiere date just yet, but you can watch the full series of Clone Wars on Disney+ and watch the rise of young Ahsoka as she trains with Anakin Skywalker in her journey to not only being a Jedi but also having her own series.
