Annie Wersching, a regular on such shows as 24, Timeless, Star Trek, and Bosch, has passed away at 45. According to Deadline, the actress passed away from cancer. She was initially diagnosed in 2020. Stephen Full, husband of Wersching, says the following in a statement.
Wersching was born in 1977 in St. Louis, Missouri, and had a love for the stage since childhood. Starting with Irish dance and continuing on until she required a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in musical theater from Millikin University in 1999. Her first television role would be as Liana in the Star Trek: Enterprise episode, “Oasis.” From there, she would appear on notable shows like Fraiser, Charmed, and Supernatural. Soon, Wersching landed the role of FBI Special Agent Renee Walker in seasons seven and eight of 24.
“There is a cavernous hole in the soul of this family today. But she left us the tools to fill it. She found wonder in the simplest moment. She didn’t require music to dance. She taught us not to wait for adventure to find you. ‘Go find it. It’s everywhere.’ And find it we shall. As I drove our boys, the true loves of her life, down the winding driveway and street, she would yell BYE! until we were out of earshot and into the world. I can still hear it ringing. Bye my Buddie. ‘I love you little family…’ ”

She would continue on as a main character in the first season, then make multiple guest appearances in seasons 2 and 7.

While Wersching was a regular on television, she also performed in two video games. In 2019, she performed the voice and performance capture of Tassyn in Anthem. But her most notable game performance is in the 2013 mega-hit from Naughty Dog, The Last of Us. Wersching played the character of Tess; like with Anthem, she provided both the voice and performance capture. A clip of her performing in the motion capture suit can be viewed below.

Wersching was diagnosed with cancer in 2020, though it is unclear what kind of cancer. According to the GoFundMe set up for her surviving husband and children, she “wanted to protect her boys. She wanted to get better so she could continue working.”
Wersching’s passing leaves a void in all the works she left a part of herself in, leaving fans, friends, and colleagues all grieving. Director and producer of 24, Jon Cassar, had this to say in a statement on her passing.
Rest in peace, Annie Wersching.
“My heart is broken in more pieces than I can count. Annie came into my world with an open heart and a contagious smile. Brandishing such talent, she took my breath away. Annie became more than a workmate, she became a real friend to me, my family and every cast and crew member that worked with her. She’ll be truly missed by them and the fans she always found time to interact with. Annie you’ll be missed, you left your mark, and we’re all the better for it.”
