Could Spider-Man: No Way Home be the very best Spidey movie yet? That just might be the case if the reviews coming in are any indication. Ahead of the superhero epic’s wide release, the early critics had initially given the movie a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Subsequent reviews have dropped the official score down to 95% on the Tomatometer, putting together all of the top critics’ scores.

Many filmgoers prefer to go by the audience scores that are also listed with movies on Rotten Tomatoes. In this case, while the critics’ reviews were filled with high praise, the audience score has turned out even better. As of this writing, that score is now at 99% fresh with more than 10,000 verified ratings. It’s not 100% perfect, but you’re clearly going to be hard-pressed to find someone who’s seen the movie and didn’t like it.

So as not to reveal spoilers, we won’t get into any of the specific details for Spider-Man: No Way Home. What had been widely known prior to its release was that the movie would bring a live-action multiverse into the MCU, opening the door for characters from variant cinematic universes to arrive. There was a heavy focus on Alfred Molina returning as Doc Ock from Spider-Man 2 after the actor leaked his involvement. Sony and Marvel also heavily promoted the inclusions of a few other characters like Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, though the latter didn’t want to be involved unless he could get physical with the role.

“To do this physical stuff was important to me,” Dafoe recently explained. “In fact, one of the first things I said to Jon (Watts) and Amy (Pascal), basically, when they pitched it to me before there was even a script, was, ‘Listen. I don’t want to just pop in there as a cameo, or just fill in in closeups. I want to do the action because that’s fun for me. And also, because it’s really impossible to add any integrity or any fun to the character if you don’t participate in these things. Because all that action stuff informs your relationship to the characters and the story, and also, it makes you earn your right to play the character in a funny way.”

This has all resulted in a must-see movie for Marvel fans. It is meant to conclude a trilogy of movies that first began with Spider-Man: Homecoming, but that doesn’t mean we have seen the last of Tom Holland as Peter Parker. Amy Pascal had previously said that there are plans to make another trilogy of movies with Holland’s Peter back at it, even though following No Way Home will be quite the challenge. Kevin Feige has also teased that plans have begun on Spider-Man 4 already.

“Amy and I and Disney and Sony are talking about — yes, we’re actively beginning to develop where the story heads next, which I only say outright because I don’t want fans to go through any separation trauma like what happened after Far from Home. That will not be occurring this time,” Feige told the New York Times.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is finally playing in movie theaters everywhere.
