Returning Spider-Man variant Peter B. Parker will have a daughter in the upcoming animated sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, some newly released concept art has revealed. Coming courtesy of Sony Pictures Animation, the images reveal our first look at Parker with his daughter as his newfound role as a father likely impacts his relationship with Miles Morales as he finds himself standing against the rest of the Spider-Force.

In the saga of Spider-Man, this is not the first time that Peter Parker has had a child, with his offspring occasionally inheriting his powers and more often than not coming up against one-or-more of his archenemies. Sometimes with fatal results.

During the events of 2018’s Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, it was revealed that Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson) had become jaded with being a superhero after separating from Mary Jane “MJ” Watson. Scared about the prospect of having kids, Parker’s life has clearly changed since we last saw him, with producer and co-writer Christopher Miller offering some insight into Parker’s newfound responsibilities and the difficulties that come with raising a child who can actually climb walls like her old man.

“Peter B. Parker is in a family way,” Miller revealed. “Peter got back with Mary Jane and they had a baby named Mayday. She has half spider-blood. Parenting is hard enough when they don’t have the ability to stick to walls.” Based on this concept art from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Peter B. Parker’s daughter has picked up traits from both her parents. Possessing the bright red hair of her mother, Mary Jane, she is also sporting a spider-themed outfit. A spider-theme that has also affected her DNA.

Miles Will Need All the Friends He Can Get in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

     Sony Pictures Releasing

The return of Peter B. Parker will no doubt be a welcome addition to the huge roster of Spider-People, as Miles Morales will need all the friends he can get in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The recent trailer for the animated sequel revealed that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will begin with Miles Morales reuniting with Gwen Stacy. Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is soon catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence.

But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero, so he can save the people he loves most.

So, not only will Miles need to face-off with supervillain The Spot (Jason Schwartzman), he will also be forced to do battle with his fellow Spider-Gang. Including Oscar Isaac’s Miguel O’Hara aka Spider-Man 2099. “He’s not the villain of the movie, but he’s sort of an antagonist to Miles because they both think that what they’re doing is the right thing,” Chris Miller explained.

Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson from a screenplay by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham, and led once again by Shameik Moore as Miles Morales aka Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is scheduled to be released on June 2, 2023.
