Spider-Man: No Way Home is less than a week away from the theatrical release, but the casting rumors on the films don’t seem to stop. The Spider-Man fans and especially the fans of the idea of Marvel’s multiverse have worked upon numerous theories and have decoded posters and trailers to figure out who might just show up in the film. These rumors of course stirred over the period of the last two years since Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx got cast in the film, reprising their villainous roles from Spider-Man 2 (2002) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) respectively.
Since then, there’s hardly any from the past Spider-Man films actor who hasn’t been a part of any rumor concerning casting for No Way Home. To add up, even Charlie Cox’s appearance in the film has been heavily rumored, with the actor reprising his role as Daredevil from the eponymous series.

Now, there’s another name added to that list, however, the actress in question was also quick enough to deny the casting rumor on her Twitter. Donna Murphy, who played the role of Rosie Octavius in the film, was recently rumored to appear in the upcoming MCU entry. The rumor was probably fueled by the fact that Doc Ock is appearing in the movie, and Donna’s role is a significant part of that character’s arc in Spider-Man 2. But seems like that’s not the case. In a recent tweet, Donna responded to the rumors saying,
This straightforward response to the rumor surely put that recently lighted rumor to rest. With that, she has joined a decently long list of actors from previous Spider-Man films who have denied involvement in the multiversal conflict that is, Spider-Man: No Way Home. Andrew Garfield has been most grilled about all these rumors and leaks of his appearance, which he has continuously shunned, and is now tired of talking about it. The OG Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire has been able to keep his distance from all the fans hyping upon his possible appearance in the film. Besides, Kirsten Dunst, though open to reprising her role as Mary Jane Watson from Raimi’s Spider-Man films, has explicitly denied her involvement in No Way Home.
“Really? Did I miss that call from my manager? Xo Rosi”
Donna Murphy’s role played an essential role in Alfred Molina’s transition into his villainous character in Spider-Man 2, as it’s his wife, Rosie Octavius, whose demise in Otto’s failed experiment that caused the latter to lose control of his mechanical arms and got into this psychological conflict with their A.I. Though her presence in No Way Home would be a nice touch to its nostalgic aspect; however, given where Dr. Octopus’ character’s arc is kicking off in the film, it’s unlikely her character could be brought back from death.
Though Donna Murphy is not in the movie, Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: No Way Home will feature a lot of actors from the previous Spider-Man films, making it a power-packed adventure for the audience to experience. You can read the synopsis below.
