Sonic The Hedgehog ended with a tease that Tails would be making an appearance in the sequel, although at the time, the studio held off also revealing that another Sonic regular, Knuckles, would be joining them in Sonic The Hedgehog 2. With the arrival of the much-awaited sequel in cinemas, that means there is a whole new post credits scene to break down, which gives a first look at another classic Sonic game character who it appears will be joining the growing cast of video game characters in the third installment, which has already been greenlit. Prepare yourself for spoilers in the article ahead, and divert yourself back to Green Hill Zone to avoid them.
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 does not open in the U.S. until next weekend, but the little blue speedster and his companions burst back onto the big screen this week in the U.K. and Australia, meaning that the movie’s secrets are already being dotted around on the internet. Of course, as with many movies, the film has a post credits scene that sets up what fans can expect from the new film down the line, and in this case, it is the arrival of Shadow The Hedgehog.
Following the climactic battle between Sonic and Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey), which sees Sonic using the power of the Chaos Emeralds to transform into the bright yellow Super Sonic, he takes out Robotnik’s huge Death Egg robot and seemingly sends the mad scientist to his doom - although no one believes that for a second. After restoring the Master Emerald through a show of strength by Knuckles, Sonic, Knuckles and Tails make a pact to protect the Master Emerald, and all is well in the world.
In the post-credits scene, a group of troopers is seen sifting the wrecked Death Egg Robot for Robotnik, but of course, they cannot find him. However, Agent Stone is lurking and listening into a discussion about coordinates that have been discovered for Project Shadow, something that has been in development for half a century. Cut to a shot of a certain black hedgehog in a lab, and then cut to black, all ready to head into Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Shadow The Hedgehog Can Get Redemption In Sonic 3
Sega
While Shadow the Hedgehog has been a feature of the video games for some time, making his first appearance over 20 years ago in Sonic Adventure 2, the character also received his own spin-off game in 2005, but the game didn’t have any of the usual Sonic magic and did not do much for the character.
The character was seen in the games to have been the result of experiments with alien DNA that were conducted by the grandfather of Robotnik, but when the new creation seemed to be growing too powerful, he was put into animated suspension for 50 years until he was found and enlisted by the current Robotnik to help him do his evil deeds. Having already hinted at some of this in the credit scene, it is likely that we will see a pretty faithful translation of Shadow appearing in the third movie, but hopefully, they can do something more than making him the broody, gun-totting character that appeared in the 2005 solo video game.
