The popular series Smallville told the story of how a young Clark Kent (played by Tom Welling) came to grips with his growing superpowers and became the world’s greatest hero. The show ran for ten seasons and racked up more than 200 episodes. Over the course of the series, Smallville had plenty of guest actors, including the late Star Wars legend Carrie Fisher. More recently, during a recent episode of the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, series star Michael Rosenbaum (who played the iconic villain Lex Luthor) recalled a hilarious story about Fisher’s short time on Smallville.
According to the Lex Luthor actor, Fisher disappeared from the set at one point while shooting her Smallville episode. That led the show’s crew to search for the actor, who they later found hiding inside one of the worm-like tubes of the “giant air-conditioning vents that they put on sets.”

Rosenbaum stated, “[Carrie] did an episode of Smallville and they were looking for her, too. They were looking for her and they found her in, you know those giant air-conditioning vents that they put on sets, the little worm like things that are really big that blow cold air into the [set]? She was in one cooling off,” he said with a laugh.

Carrie Fisher Guest Starred as Pauline Kahn During a Season 5 Episode of Smallville
Warner Bros.
Though Fisher didn’t have a prominent role in the Superman prequel, her cameo appearance in the season 5 episode “Thirst” was nothing short of memorable. In the episode, Fished played Pauline Kahn, the Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Planet. Before taking on the role of Editor-in-Chief, Khan worked with the Superman comics’ iconic reporter and editor Perry White, back when the two started their careers as reporters. In “Thirst,” Fisher’s Kahn has a critical role to play in the life of Clark Kent’s best friend, Chloe Sullivan (played by Allison Mack).
While in high school, Chloe focused a good portion of her time editing the local school paper, The Smallville Torch. Her work as an editor was extremely important to Chloe, and the character would later go on to apply for a job as a Daily Planet intern, which is where Fisher’s Kahn came into the picture. While Kahn initially rejects Chloe’s application, the character refuses to be shut down, asking the Editor-in-Chief to reconsider, noting that everyone, including Kahn, had to start somewhere. Khan then told Chloe to submit a story, which led to the editor seeing the young woman’s potential. Khan then agreed to let Chloe start out at the bottom of the company to work her way up.
