A release date and two new posters for Slasher: Ripper has been released. Each season of the Canadian show plays out like a slasher movie modified to fit eight episodes. Besides that, it’s an anthology series where each season tells a new story while reusing as many of the same actors as possible. If that sounds like American Horror Story to you, that was an admitted influence on Slasher’s creator Aaron Martin.
Ripper, the show’s fifth season, will also be its first-period piece. Set during the 19th century, the plot will concern a Jack the Ripper copycat named the Widow. The main difference is that while the Ripper targeted the downtrodden of society, the Widow goes after the rich upper crust. Leading the hunt for the killer is detective Kenneth Rijkers.

Eric McCormack from Will & Grace will play a ruthless but charismatic tycoon named Basil Garvey. The rest of the cast, such as who’ll be playing Rijkers, has not yet been revealed. That said, we can begin speculating who’ll be in it based on the familiar faces who keep reappearing each season.
Joanne Vannicola and Paula Brancati have appeared in all the previous seasons. Dean McDermott, Christopher Jacot, and Jim Watson have appeared in three seasons, with Jacot being a main character in all three. Furthermore, Patrick Garrow, Erin Karpluk, Paulino Nunes, Patrice Goodman, and Sabrina Grdevich have all appeared in two seasons.

What’s Come Before
Similar to how season one of American Horror Story was subtly subtitled once more seasons were made, the same was true for Slasher. Originally just titled Slasher, it was subsequently renamed Slasher: The Executioner, after the killer plaguing the town of Waterbury. The Executioner would target people for violating one of the seven deadly sins.
Slasher: Guilty Party, which was when the show moved from Chiller to Netflix, concerned a group of camp counselors who covered up a murder years ago. Returning to the crime scene, which has now become a commune, both groups are steadily picked off by a parka-wearing killer.
Slasher: Solistice, which also aired on Netflix, took place over the course of a single day. On the night of a solstice party, a resident of an apartment building was murdered by a masked killer known as the Druid, with none of the other residents doing anything to help. A year later, the Druid reappears and starts killing more people.
Slasher: Flesh & Blood, which moved to Shudder from Netflix, concerns the incredibly rich and dysfunctional Galloway family. They all gather on an island to compete for who’ll inherit the patriarch’s vast fortune. As if that wasn’t stressful enough, they also have to contend with the Gentleman, a masked killer who’s also on the island.
Slasher: Ripper, which will air on Shudder and Hollywood Suite, will premiere on April 6, 2023.
