A new video game is in the works based on Shudder’s Creepshow series. It has been officially announced that AMC Networks will partner up with DreadXP, an indie horror publisher and production company, to produce a video game adaptation Shudder & Cartel Entertainment’s Creepshow. The Mortuary Assistant developer Brian Clarke (DarkStone Digital) will serve as the creative director of the game. Executive produced by Greg Nicotero, the series itself is inspired by the original anthology horror film from 1982 by director George R. Romero and writer Stephen King.
DreadXP’s video game will develop Creepshow with an “interactive format” across multiple platforms. The devs say that the game will retain the anthology horror format of the movies and TV series, meaning that there will be multiple self-contained horror stories that cross gameplay genres and tone. It is said that several indie developers popular in the horror development scene are contributing to the game with a full list of those involved coming at a later date.

“The Creepshow brand continues to spread its monstrous wings,” Nicotero, who also serves as showrunner on the series, said in a statement. “Hot on the heels of the Skybound Comic release this summer and wrapping post-production on Season 4, I feel like this is an opportunity to celebrate the genre with horror fans around the world in a way that takes us through a myriad of experiences.”
Creative director Brian Clarke added, “I’m extremely excited to be a part of such a fun project. I’ve always loved Creepshow’s format, and the idea of driving the cohesion of multiple perspectives on horror is really compelling to me. I feel honored to have been asked to be a part of this. I can’t wait to jump in and bring the best I can to such a great IP.”
“Shudder’s Creepshow is in a class all its own — a genre-bending mashup of spine-tingling horror and rib-tickling satire that not just any game publisher could successfully bring to life,” Clayton Neuman, VP of Games at AMC Networks, also stated. “But after playing the Dread X Collection game anthologies, and seeing Brian’s twisted genius at work in The Mortuary Assistant, we knew we had found the right partners for this project. This game will surprise, delight, and terrify Creepshow and horror fans alike, and we can’t wait for players to get their hands on it.”
Creepshow Will Return for Season 4 on Shudder
Over the course of three seasons, the Creepshow series has been a big hit for Shudder, setting many records on the horror-based streaming platform for number of viewers, new subscriber sign-ups, and total minutes streamed. This makes it one of the most-watched titles in Shudder’s history. The show has since been renewed for season 4 which will be arriving sometime in 2023.
The wait for the video game will be a bit longer as that will be coming in 2024. More details about the adaptation will be announced in the coming months. You can learn more about DreadXP at DreadXP.com.
