The first season of the HBO Max series The Flight Attendant gained a lot of praise, including Emmy nominations, and a second season was always going to be greenlit. A new major piece of casting for the series has revealed that Kaley Cuoco will be joined in the second season by Hollywood icon Sharon Stone, who will be playing her mother. While The Flight Attendant detailed the relationship between Cuoco’s character Cassie Bowden and her deceased father, her mother only appeared in a tiny flashback scene. That will change as the new season shifts focus to Cassie’s relationship with her estranged mother.

Stone has joined the series on a recurring basis to play Lisa Bowden, who after being estranged from her daughter Cassie for years, wants to keep it that way, as she found she was unable to continue supporting Cassie after a lifetime of alcoholism. While the series already has gained plenty of attention, the arrival of Sharon Stone to the cast is another coup for the show, who will be hoping for more award nominations in the near future. Soon after this news appeared in a report by Deadline, Cuoco posted a photo of herself with Stone and the caption “Welp, I can finally share this news .. hi mom, I [love] you [Sharon Stone] seriously what life am I living?”
Season 2 of The Flight Attendant will pick up with Cassie in Los Angeles living her best life in sobriety but also continuing her work as a CIA asset on the side. However, things are never simple for long, and soon an overseas assignment ends with Cassie accidentally witnessing a murder and becoming embroiled in another tale of intrigue.

The news of Sharon Stone joining the cast for the new season, which as well as Cuoco includes returns for Zosia Mamet, Griffin Matthews, Deniz Akdeniz and Rosie Perez, has been well received by fans of the show, who have raved about the choice being a perfect casting choice, and looking at the pair in Cuoco’s shared picture they could very easily be mistaken for mother and daughter. As well as the addition of Stone, other newcomers for the second season are Mo McRae, Callie Hernandez, JJ Soria, Alanna Ubach, Cheryl Hines, Jessie Ennis, Mae Martin, Margaret Cho, Santiago Cabrera and Shohreh Aghdashloo.
Despite being known for her movie work, with hit films such as Basic Instinct and the Oscar-nominated Casino sending her career into the stratosphere in the early 1990s, like many big Hollywood stars, she has been turning her attention to the small screen and has appeared in Netflix One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest inspired series Ratched, along with Mosaic and The New Pope on HBO Max. She also picked up an Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series Emmy Award for her recurring role in The Practice. Her upcoming movie appearances include Beauty on Netflix later this year.
