It was Halle Berry who helped get Shamier Anderson a role in the upcoming sequel John Wick: Chapter 4. Currently in development for a 2022 release, the fourth John Wick movie brings back Keanu Reeves to join a slew of newcomers to the franchise. Anderson is among the new stars as he’ll appear in the sequel in a mystery role, announcing in June that he had officially started work on the movie.
Anderson was clearly excited to get started, and he has Halle Berry to thank for snagging this role. Fans of the action movie series may remember that Berry appeared in John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum, which, like the upcoming installment, was directed by Chad Stahelski. Shamier Anderson had been working with Berry on her directorial debut, Bruised, a project Stahelski also worked on as an executive producer. As Anderson tells THR, he then asked Berry to pass his name along to Stahelski for John Wick 4 casting consideration.

Other names which have been announced for the sequel’s cast also include Rina Sawayama, Hiroyuki Sanada, Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård, and Scott Adkins.
“I got the job, and I finished filming a week ago. I’m in John Wick with Keanu Reeves! Shout-out to Halle Berry for giving me the opportunity that led to that.”
Character actor Clancy Brown has also been brought in for a main role, with Chad Stahelski previously stating of his casting, “I have been a fan of Clancy Brown’s since I can remember. To have him be a part of this project is an honor. He will make a perfect addition to the world of John Wick!”
Previously, Shamier Anderson shared videos of his rigorous training and spoke about his entrance into the franchise. The actor told Looper, “It’s … it’s just wow, I’ll just leave it at that, just wow. I’m a fan of the franchise, and to be able to be a part of it and to be with Keanu Reeves every day is just … wow. I can’t wait for the world to see it. You all are going to love it… Keanu Reeves is the nicest guy on planet Earth.”
Anderson, established for his role in Wynonna Earp, can be seen in Halle Berry’s MMA drama Bruised which is now streaming on Netflix. The actor also stars in the Apple TV+ series Invasion in a main role. He is also attached to the upcoming Marvel movie The Marvels, which serves as a sequel to Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel.
John Wick: Chapter 4 is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 27, 2022. This comes more than a year after its previous release date, as like many big movies, it had its release date delayed significantly due to the pandemic. It was originally supposed to debut on the same day as another Keanu Reeves sequel, The Matrix Resurrections, which will now premiere in December. You can also catch Shamier Anderson and Halle Berry together in Bruised on Netflix. This news comes to us from The Hollywood Reporter.
