Severance, the sci-fi series of Apple TV +, which has been regarded as one of the best series of 2022 and in recent years by many, will return for the second season. The Emmy-winning series will introduce fresh faces in its new season.

The workplace drama hit has been in production since October and is likely to extend to May 2023. However, despite its praise, it returned from the Golden Globe’s with only nominations, despite its success in ratings, reviews, and awards.

For series creator Dan Erickson, that’s not a problem. Erickson spoke to TV Insider before the ceremony:

Erickson said he wasn’t sure if the show would get any attention because of the current TV industry’s multitude, so he prepared himself. The creator thought the audience might not find the show.

‘‘I always loved trying to figure who was going to win which award. People say it shouldn’t be a competition. Everyone who has ever made anything wins, but it’s also fun for former kids like me who were ‘nerds’ about the industry. It’s fun.’’

‘‘I had totally resigned myself to the fact that there’s just too much TV and that people may not find the show. I don’t even know how that happens with all the great TV that comes out.’’

After the intriguing season finale, Severance will continue with the second season, but Erickson says he can’t give any details. However, the creator said that he is very excited to be working with new members such as Alia Shawkat, Bob Balaban, and Gwendoline Christie: ‘‘There are a lot of amazing actors who are new to the show.’’

Adam Scott, who plays the main character Mark, is not the only star of the show. Erickson said that Britt Lower, who plays Helly, reflects the character’s revolutionary spirit.

It is confirmed that each of the Season 1 leads will return and reprise their roles. The mind-bending sci-fi series has cast Merritt Wever (Unbelievable), Robby Benson (Beauty and The Beast), Stefano Carannante (Mirabilia), John Noble (The Lord of the Rings), and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (The Tourist). There’s no official release date for Severance Season 2 at the time.

‘‘People related to Helly, who was the way into the world we’ve created. She’s the one who’s experiencing the show along with us, realizing how messed up it is. That just comes down to Britt exemplifying exactly the spirit of revolution in the character. She’s brought out things that we didn’t even know were in there.’’
