It took a very long time for The Boys to find its way as a series on Prime Video, as the original plan was for the comic book series to be adapted as a feature film. This was a project that has its development dating back to 2008 when Columbia Pictures picked up the rights to do a movie based on The Boys with Neal Moritz producing. When it fizzled out, the movie was moved over to Paramount where Adam McKay was on board to direct, but for whatever reason, that incarnation of The Boys never saw the light of day, either.

The Boys Returns With New Episodes on Prime Video in June
The Boys will come back in June with the premiere of season 3. Fans are excited to see what happens next after Billy Butcher and the gang were officially appointed to keep an eye on the Supes in the Seven, now earning paychecks for doing what they’d already done for the first two seasons. We also should expect for the third season to be the craziest one yet right from the start.
“Without giving away any spoilers, I was just in editing yesterday, and we’re doing something here in the season 3 premiere that is not only I think the craziest thing we’ve ever done, it’s got to be up there with the craziest thing anyone’s ever done,” Kripke previously said of the new season, per Deadline. “Maybe it won’t work. Who knows? But I’m just so high on this gag that we’re pulling off. And it’s certainly something nobody has ever seen before, probably for good reason. So all that’s really exciting.”
The first two seasons of The Boys can be found streaming on Prime Video. Season 3 will be debuting on June 3, 2022.
