If the raunchy antics in 2016’s animated food-fest Sausage Party weren’t enough to satisfy you, get ready to go back for seconds: an eight-episode Sausage Party series is in the works for Prime Video, Variety reports.
Co-writer and star Seth Rogen first shared the news on Twitter Wednesday, promising that the perverted party will continue in 2024 with an “eight-course television event.”
The series, titled Sausage Party: Foodtopia will see the return of voice actors from the original film—including James Franco, Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig, and Michael Cera. Along with the returning stars, Will Forte (Saturday Night Live), Sam Richardson (Veep), Natasha Rothwell (Insecure), and Yassir Lester (Making History) will also lend their voices to the animated series.

“Film used to be the superior art form to television, and we humbly reached the pinnacle of what can be achieved with film in our remarkable opus, Sausage Party,” Rogen and co-writer Evan Goldberg told Variety.
“But now that film is completely dead and TV is the forever-king of entertainment, we’ve decided to continue the epic adventures of our culinary crew in the soon-to-be-legendary televised masterpiece Sausage Party: Foodtopia. It’s got all the heart, double the puns, and triple the food-on-food sex. In other words, it’s exactly what the world needs right now.”
Rogen and the other Sausage Party stars aren’t the only ones feeling excited about the series: the executives in charge are “thrilled” about Foodtopia’s potential.
Sony Co-President Jason Clodfelter shares Sanders’ excitement for the reboot of the R-rated animated flick.
“The original film was another irreverent comedy from the brilliant comedic minds of Seth and Evan,” he said. “When Annapurna, Seth and Evan approached us to wholly reboot the project as a TV series we were thrilled to be a part of the collaboration and equally excited to have Prime Video as our partner.”
“We look forward to the fanfare around Sausage Party: Foodtopia, which promises to be a hit,” Clodfelter added.
Though the plot of the series is being kept under wraps for now, it is currently in production. Per Variety, co-writers Ariel Shaffir and Kyle Hunter serve as executive producers and co-showrunners on the series; Rogen, Goldberg, James Weaver, and Alex McAtee will also executive produce under Point Grey Pictures. Sausage Party co-director Conrad Vernon will return as supervising director for Foodtopia and executive produce as well.
Sausage Party: Foodtopia is expected sometime in 2024.
