It was recently reported that Sesame Street has undergone a major episode purge on HBO Max, and the children’s show’s official Twitter account has been guiding fans over to YouTube for more streaming of the series. Per the New York Times, almost 200 episodes were suddenly yanked from HBO Max recently as the streaming platform furthers its merge with Discovery+. Along with this bulk of content getting removed, the new series The Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo was also pulled.
But Big Bird and friends have weighed in on the situation by bringing attention to the show’s official YouTube channel. On Twitter, the official account for Sesame Street references “full episodes” that will be available on every day of the week to stream on YouTube, seemingly a response to HBO Max making so many episodes unavailable.

“Your friends on Sesame Street will always be here when you need them. Visit the neighborhood any day of the week with full episodes on our YouTube channel,” the tweet reads, linking to a season 49 episode.
Sesame Street Hasn’t Been Completely Removed

Currently, episodes 456 through 650 are still available on HBO Max, so the series was not completely scrubbed. Some spinoff shows also remain, such as My Sesame Street Friends and The Magical Wand Chase special. Season 53 is still reportedly set to hit HBO Max in the fall. There are also a handful of episodes that can be found from seasons 1, 5, and 7. The show had made the move to HBO Max in 2020.
“Sesame Street is, and always has been, the gold standard for children’s programming, and we’re thrilled that Sesame Workshop chose HBO Max as its new partner,” WarnerMedia Chairman Robert Greenblatt said in a statement when the move was announced. “This brand is synonymous with quality and integrity, not to mention that nothing is more important than educating young new minds. This landmark deal perfectly illustrates the type of quality programming HBO Max will offer across every demographic.”
Steve Youngwood, Sesame Workshop’s President of Media and Education and Chief Operating Officer, added: “As we celebrate 50 years of Sesame Street and look to the future, we are thrilled to enter into this powerful partnership with HBO Max and their growing offering of best-in-class content. Producing this broad slate will help us deliver on our mission to help kids everywhere grow smarter, stronger, and kinder. We are also excited about partnering with WarnerMedia and AT&T as we seek ways to expand Sesame Workshop’s impact around the world.”
