It’s been an eventful season three of Apple TV’s hit original series Servant, and sadly it’s already come to an abrupt end. After nine thrilling and suspenseful episodes, the tenth and final episode of the season came and went (back on March 25th). While many are sad and distraught at not having any more Servant to get us through the spring and summer months, we can still count on a fourth and final season, slated to air sometime by the end of next year.

Season three consisted of many highs and lows, from Dorothy (Lauren Ambrose) and Leanne’s (Nell Tiger Free) epic showdown to Dorothy’s abrupt (yet much needed) mental health diagnosis. The main premise of the whole season revolved around Leanne coming into her own, as Dorothy struggled with the decline of her work career, all while feeling threatened by the supernatural powers which Leanne utilizes more than in the previous seasons.

Just as Sean’s (Toby Kebbell) career as a celebrity chef began to take off again, producers at the news station where Dorothy works had started to rely more on her former protege and now rival Isabelle (Molly Griggs) to cover certain segments. With Sean now stepping back into the reality television market, he deals with the mental effects he still carries, years back after being away on the same show when his and Dorothy’s son was left in a car and unfortunately died.

After so much nonstop action during season three, die-hard fans are left to wonder what else can happen to shock everyone. Below are possible directions we could see the fourth and final season of the Apple TV hit original series going in.

Dorothy Is Paralyzed & Has No Way to Escape

After episode ten of season three, we see a frantic Dorothy scrambling to flee the Turner home with baby Jericho. At this point, Dorothy has no trust in her husband Sean or her brother Julian (Rupert Grint) when it comes to taking her side against Leanne. Everyone closest to Dorothy views Leanne as a bridge between keeping their now somewhat stabilized life continuous, mainly because they know the truth. Dorothy actually suffered from postpartum depression after giving birth to the actual baby Jericho and left him in the car to pass away.

After the passing, Dorothy went into a state where she either couldn’t remember what happened or chose to escape from the truth. Sean and Julian had to pick up the pieces, later falling into their own vices to cope with the after effects – Julian with drugs and Sean with his cooking. Once Leanne came into the fold, she replaced the family’s reborn doll with a real-life baby, and viewers still don’t know who the baby truly belongs to.

Somewhere down the line, Dorothy comes to understand just how dangerous Leanne has become, although Dorothy also has her fair share of personal issues. It isn’t until episode ten that Dorothy tries to escape from her and Sean’s family home. However, Leanne blocks Dorothy from leaving and first requests to join them. Dorothy wants to leave the house without Leanne, but Leanne restrains Dorothy and calls for Sean and Julian. As this disturbance further escalates, Dorothy yells at Leanne and calls her mentally insane. This leads Leanne to supernaturally cause Dorothy to fall over the stairwell railing and land on the floor. We could expect Dorothy to be seriously injured in season four, making it more difficult for her to leave the Turner home and Leanne for good.

Will We Learn More About the Baby?

For three full seasons, fans of the Servant series have been trying to understand who the replacement baby actually is. While the general theory suggests that the baby could be Leanne’s biological child, there have been tiny indicators in the series that the baby could have also belonged to an unidentified cult member that Leanne had escaped with in season one. With the fourth season being the last of the series, there should be some clarification on who the child belongs to. Could Leanne have brought baby Jericho back to life? Yes, but the child could just as well be Leanne’s baby.

So if the child is Leanne’s, why hand him over to the Turners? An explanation could be Leanne’s desire to give the baby a stable and happy childhood, something she never had for herself. In a series of flashback scenes, we see Leanne as a child being a part of beauty pageants, as her mother seemed kind of cold towards her. Leanne met Dorothy while she was filming a segment on beauty pageants, and Leanne became attached to Dorothy after seeing how kind and loving she was towards her and the rest of the children. It’s possible that Leanne could have wanted her baby to have the same type of loving experience as she did in that short amount of time.

Looking towards season four, fans of the Apple TV series Servant could expect many more twists and turns for its final season. As we can expect the dynamic between Dorothy and Leanne to intensify, it would be very interesting to see where Sean stands between the two. His relationship with Leanne has developed into a big brother, little sister type of role, while his marriage with Dorothy has seemed to crumble further. Will we see Sean taking a side next season or staying semi-neutral?
