The hit TV comedy Seinfeld ran from 1989 to 1998 and for many years later, was a nightly watch for most families. The beloved 90s sitcom has reemerged in the news lately after the passing of Estelle Harris and Liz Sheridan, who played George and Jerry’s mothers on the show. In memory of both ladies, let’s take a look back at the show and where the main cast is today. Seinfeld followed a standup comedian Jerry Seinfeld and his friends, the neurotic, offbeat characters of Elaine, Kramer, and George. Fans would love to see a reboot of the series and what the “everyday life” of the characters would be like in the modern age. Unfortunately, the show, as it aired back in the 90s, could probably never air today, as its gimmicks and goofy nature would likely not capture as wide of an audience compared to current shows.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Even so, the 30-year-old sitcom is still one of the easiest shows to rewatch over and over again, as outlined by Vanity Fair. Netflix currently has the rights to the show, making it easy to rewatch one of America’s best shows ever created. For those looking to branch out, co-creator Larry David has another show, Curb Your Enthusiasm, available to stream on HBO. But,if you find yourselves missing the main cast, here’s a brief overview of what the cast has done since wrapping on Seinfeld.

Jerry Seinfeld

     NBC

Jerry Seinfeld not only starred in the TV series Seinfeld, but he was also the producer and writer. After wrapping up the series, he continued to do all of these. As far as acting roles, his major movie was the 2007 animated comedy Bee Movie, in which he played Barry B. Benson, a story which he helped write and produce. His writing roles comprised similar shows to Seinfeld, such as the Netflix TV special Jerry Before Seinfeld and season 1 of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, which he also produced. As a comedian first and foremost, Seinfeld is still actively touring and is expected to for the foreseeable future.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Julia Louis-Dreyfus has had a busy career since her days as the witty Elaine. Over the years, Louis-Dreyfus has appeared in many TV shows, including a three-season stint on Saturday Night Live, The New Adventures of Old Christine, and Veep. To date, Veep has won 17 Emmys, including multiple Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (for Louis-Dreyfus). The HBO series is arguably Louis-Dreyfus’ best role between her acting and title as producer. Louis-Dreyfus also won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in The New Adventures of Old Christine. She has also joined the Marvel Universe as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Her next project, Netflix’s You People, will drop in 2022. The rom-com is about a new couple and their family, and will look at modern love and family dynamics.

Jason Alexander

Jason Alexander’s career has kept him busy since starring as George Costanza in Seinfeld. Even while the show was still airing, Alexander was constantly putting out popular movies like Pretty Woman, Coneheads, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. After wrapping up the sitcom in 1998, he starred in a few TV movies and a few episodes of popular TV shows, such as Friends. In 2001, he starred as the main character in the show Bob Patterson, which lasted one season. He continued to make guest appearances on multiple TV shows thought the years, including Monk, Everybody Hates Chris, Criminal Minds,The New Adventures of Old Christine, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Two and a Half Men, TripTank, and DC’s Harley Quinn. During the pandemic, Alexander joined some of the original cast for a live stream of The Rocky Horror Picture Show as the narrator. His most recent roles came from guest appearances in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Young Sheldon.

Michael Richards

Michael Richards was already known around Hollywood before starring as Kramer in Seinfeld. After wrapping up the series, his roles slowed down. He was a writer and producer for the TV series The Michael Richards Show. Richards joined most of the cast in appearing in Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm. He also joined Jerry Seinfeld in the Bee Movie. He teamed up with fellow comedian Kirstie Alley in her show, Kirstie, from 2013-to 2014. From there, he took a small hiatus until 2019 when he returned to the big screen with a role in the movie Faith, Hope & Love. After an incident in 2006, Richards has kept mostly out of the spotlight and has been retired from standup since then, barring the exception of his role on Kristie. At this time, it’s unlikely we will see the 70-year-old comedian in anything else. He will forever be remembered as the quirky Cosmo Kramer to his fans.
