Back in December 2020, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced that a television series based on the comic book event Secret Invasion would be coming to screens everywhere thanks to Disney+. Starring Samuel L. Jackson as his mainstay character, Nick Fury, along with a star-studded cast that includes Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Don Cheadle (as War Machine), and Kingsley Ben-Adir (Peaky Blinders). Filming for the series finished back up on April 25th, and re-shoots are currently going on.
The comic book event the series is based on, Secret Invasion by Brian Micheal Bendis and Leinil Yu, follows the heroes of the Marvel Universe uncovering a long-term invasion by the Skrull race, and that Skrulls have overtaken the place of other heroes, and become imposters (the tag line for the event was “Who Do You Trust?”). The Skrulls’ overall motivation is to take over Earth, as they believe it rightfully belongs to them after their old planet’s destruction during the Annihilation event. The biggest selling point for the comic, and now the television series, is what Marvel characters are going to be revealed as Skrulls. Here are some characters who we think are disguised as Skrulls.

6 Mariah Hill, Agent of Shield
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures
In new details released, it was said that the Secret Invasion series was going to take place during the Blip (between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame). Though it was already revealed in a post-credit scene for Spider-Man: Far From Home (which takes place after Endgame) that both S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Maria Hill and Nick Fury were both Skrulls during the entirety of the film, Secret Invasion, or its aftermath, could show how both Fury and Hill came to be in alliance with Skrulls, and what their working arrangement is like while they are impersonated.

5 Phil Coulson
An absolutely beloved and fan-favorite character from both the MCU films, and the immensely popular Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. television show from ABC, Phil Coulson has had his fair share of deaths and resurrections in the universe. But, in season five of Agents, Phil Coulson was able to pass away peacefully in his sleep with his beloved. Knowing that his deaths aren’t always permanent, and a chance for his resurrection, Marvel Studios could potentially bring Phil Coulson back to life by revealing that the original that died was in fact, a Skrull. Though it could cheapen one of the more well-done movie deaths, actor Clark Gregg (who plays Coulson) seems to always be ready for a return to the character.
4 Ulysses Klaw
One of the more iconic Black Panther and Fantastic Four villains, and one of the few times we get to see Andy Serkis in person in a film (rather than motion capture and CGI); Ulysses Klaw first appeared in Black Panther (2018) working alongside Erik Killmonger (played by Micheal B. Jordan). Around halfway through the film, Ulysses Klaw is unceremoniously killed by Killmonger in an airfield, after they both escape authorities. With such versatility of use (Klaw has been a villain to the Avengers, Daredevil, and more), and uneventful death, Marvel Studios could always reveal that this Klaw was actually a Skrull, and bring the real Klaw back for future projects.
3 Everett Ross
In the Secret Invasion comic book event, Black Panther and the nation of Wakanda were a key stronghold for the Marvel heroes to defeat the Skrulls, and it could be a similar story in live-action. With such a highly-advanced nation such as Wakanda, Skrulls may do anything they can to get the upper-hand, and that could include having a spy take over as Everett Ross, and infiltrate Wakanda. This theory does have some weight to it, as Martin Freeman is set to return as Everett Ross on the Secret Invasion show.
2 Sharon Carter
The character of Sharon Carter shocked the world back in 2021 when she was revealed as the villain “Power Broker” at the end of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Originally another Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., Sharon Carter was known for assisting superheroes such as Captain America during their adventures. Though after the events of Captain America: Civil War, Sharon had to go on the run after being labeled an enemy of the state, after aiding Captain America and his team. But, with such a drastic character change from hero to leader of a criminal underworld, simple explanations won’t cut it for audiences.
1 Hawkeye (Clint Barton)
Clint Barton arguably got the worse end of the draw when it comes to the Avengers that survived Thanos’ snap. He lost his wife and kids, half of his friends, and his home. He then goes off on a rage-fueled rampage as his alter-ego, Ronin, taking down and killing a lot of criminal bosses in Avengers: Endgame. Another character with such a dramatic character change that’s hard to explain, Marvel Studios could potentially be setting up Hawkeye to be a Skrull (at least between Infinity War and Endgame) during the Secret Invasion television show, with the original Clint Barton returning at the end of the series; along with a theory that it is actually the Skrulls that Hawkeye is hunting down at the beginning of Endgame.
