After watching Pam and Tommy on Hulu, people will be able to hear another side of the story straight from Pam Anderson herself. Following the release of the Hulu docuseries, Anderson announced that she will be bringing her own documentary to Netflix. After reports that Anderson was unhappy with the show, this appears to be an effort for the actress to share what she says really happened without the dramatization and glamorization that comes with a scripted series like Pam and Tommy starring Lily James and Sebastian Stan.

In an image posted to Instagram announcing the doc, Anderson wrote, “My life / A thousand imperfections / A million misperceptions / Wicked, wild and lost / Nothing to live up to / I can only surprise you / Not a victim, but a survivor / And alive to tell the real story.”

Word of the doc has made its way to the stars of Pam and Tommy. Speaking with Variety while promoting his new project, Fresh, Tommy Lee actor Sebastian Stan is wholeheartedly supporting Anderson with her Netflix doc. For his part, he says he’s “happy” with how Pam and Tommy brought renewed discussion back to the story, teasing that it will be interesting now to hear Anderson tell how she really feels, as she had reportedly not cooperated with the Pam and Tommy team at all. As Stan says:

“I think it’s great. I’m feeling grateful and hopeful that the show inspired further conversation and another deeper look that it deserves, so I look forward to seeing it.”

Pam Anderson Wants to Tell the ‘Real Story’ on Netflix

Netflix says the Pam Anderson doc will include never-before-seen footage along with excerpts from the Baywatch star’s personal journals. Directed by Ryan White, the documentary will be “an intimate portrait embedded in the life of Pamela Anderson as she looks back at her professional and personal path and prepares for the next steps on her journey.”

Ryan White is directing and producing the untitled Netflix documentary with Jessica Hargrave under their Tripod Media banner. Julia Nottingham for Dorothy St Pictures and Anderson’s son, Brandon Thomas Lee, is also producing. Josh Braun executive produces.

“I was really hopeful that she would be involved. I wish it had been different,” Lily James told Porter of Anderson refusing to cooperate with Pam and Tommy. “I was very hopeful that we would be in touch right up until we started filming … My sole intention was to take care of the story and to play Pamela authentically. I just had no idea if I could do it. I’ve never worked so hard. I read the books [Anderson] has written, I read her poetry, I can parrot along to all her interviews. And then, of course, there was the physical transformation. Slowly, our incredible team found a balance where I resembled Pamela but also felt like I could act through it.”

Pam and Tommy can be found streaming on Hulu. Netflix’s Pam Anderson documentary doesn’t yet have an official premiere date.
