The official description of the new season is as follows:
In Critical Role, the Chrome Conclave consisted of five members of different dragon races. Thordak, the Cinder King, a red dragon who served as the leader of the Conclave. Raishan the Diseased Deceiver, a green dragon. Umbrasyl the Hope Devourer, a black dragon. Vorugal the Frigid Doom, a white dragon. And Brimscythe the Iron Storm, a blue dragon.
“After saving the realm from evil and destruction at the hands of the most terrifying power couple in Exandria, Vox Machina is faced with saving the world once again—this time, from a sinister group of dragons known as the Chroma Conclave.”
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
During Season 1 of Vox Machina, Brimscythe was played by David Tennant, actually using a Scottish accent, unlike with his most famous roles in Doctor Who and Jessica Jones. Prior to the remaining members of the Conclave appearing at the end of episode twelve, Raishan, played by Cree Summers, made a brief cameo during the second episode. Officially, she was credited as Otherworldy Voice, but web series fans would have had no trouble recognizing her.
Further information on the actors who’ll play the rest of the Conclave has not been released. As NPCs, they were all voiced by Matthew Mercer, the Dungeon Master, during the stream. Mercer might return to play one of them. During Season One of the Prime Series, Mercer voiced a few different characters, many suffering mishaps at Vox Machina’s hands. He also assisted Epic Voice Guy (Jon Bailey) in the Honest Trailer review of the series.
What’s Next
The plot of that arc concerned the self-described greatest mercenaries in all the realm tying up loose ends brought about during the previous storyline. One of them, Keyleth (Ray), also enters into the final part of her Aramenté, which is a “Noble Odyessy” that her people, the Ashari, do. Vox Machina also deals with the threat of Hotis’ return, a rakshasa who made a brief appearance in a flashback during Season One.
Or the Chrome Conclave arc might be stretched out between seasons, as a reporter at MovieWeb previously speculated. Of course, they might also skip over all or some of that entirely. Similar to how they skipped over the Kraghammer and Vasselheim arc and jumped straight into the Briarwoods arc during Season 1. With the second season set to premiere in January 2023, three months away, any information on what Season 3 would entail probably won’t happen for a while.
