Eric Weinberg, co-executive producer of hit hospital series Scrubs, was arrested in Los Angeles Thursday for sexually assaulting several young women between the years of 2012 and 2019.

The Los Angeles Police Department announced Weinberg’s arrest at his Los Feliz residence in a statement, writing:

“Northeast Area detectives have arrested a serial sexual assault suspect and are seeking to identify any additional victims.

On July 14, 2022 around 12:00 p.m., Eric Weinberg was arrested at a residence in the 1900 block of East Edgemont Street in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles. Weinberg was booked for several sexual assaults including rape.”

The statement went on to share Weinberg’s image and his tactics for targeting victims; the producer would allegedly often approach women in their 20s and 30s in public places, such as coffee shops and grocery stores, under the guise of being a photographer. Once he lured them to his residence for a supposed “photo shoot,” Weinberg would sexually assault the women.

Although Thursday’s arrest is only related to Weinberg’s suspected assaults from 2012-2019, detectives also noted that they believe there could be additional unidentified victims dating back to the early 1990s.

The allegations against Weinberg may come as a shock to some, but the longtime Hollywood producer had already garnered a negative reputation among his Los Feliz neighbors.

A neighbor recalled a friend’s stern warning about Weinberg, telling CBS Los Angeles: “A friend of mine pointed out the house and said ‘Watch out. I personally know a ton of girls who have been, specifically lured into that house and have been assaulted.’”

“It’s scary, if you’re young you’re afraid of repercussions from anyone. With the wave of people owning their stories and coming forward, thank goodness that these things are finally coming to light,” another neighbor said. “But it’s too long. Way too long.”

In addition to Scrubs, Weinberg has produced on a notable variety of hit shows, including Californication, Anger Management, and Bill Maher’s Politically Incorrect. He has also written episodes for American Dad! and Wilfred.

Weinberg is currently being held on a $3,225,000 bail.
